Played today Riverside looks great played great what a change from a few months ago. August 2025. These guys did a great job taken care of the greens. Donât know how they did it but looks great.
Here is another review for Riverside April 2025. Please avoid this course for the next few months. Greens are in terrible shape. This is the worst they have been. If you hit the green might as week mark down a two and pick up your ball. If not then add 4 strokes. Staff said that the previous superintendent used the wrong thing on greens and burned them. This is the worst greens in the city. Sorry but have to tell it as it is. Going to add pictures.
Today is March 2025 and played today. The greens were in really bad shape do not understand why. This place was just redone 18 months ago. I have taken pictures of the greens really bad shape for spring.
Second time I have played here. It was in a lot better shape this time hopefully in the weeks coming it will continue it will get better and better. The only thing is the slow play of people that have never played or just a couple of times. They are so slow. Can we get a Marshall out to speed it up. Never seen anyone two weeks in a row except the starter. I know there are no carts there yet but you could get one for a Marshall.
Update we played here for the third time Mar 9, 2024 place was in great shape. Very nicely maintained. Greens are still being sanded from the remodel of the course. But overall it was in great shape. Hit a 82 today.
Another great outing at Riverside today. It was in fantastic shape. The best shape of any course on Alamo trails in my opinion. The only problem is is theyâre gonna have carts soon and the place is gonna be ruined because of people that donât know how to 90°. I wish they would make it only pushcarts. However I know that canât happen and it will look like Olmos before you know it.
May 1st 2024 another great golf day with Alamo Trailsand Riverside. Hit an 83 today...
Read moreAbout the only positive was the pace of play which was right at 4 1/2 hours which apparently is sadly whatâs now considered the appropriate pace. The staff was very professional, courteous and helpful as always - definitely a plus. The condition of the greens is horrendous. Very sad that these newly created greens are in such horrible shape. Makes all of us wonder what is happening to virtually all of the Trail courses. Besides the surface of the greens being very bumpy, they are very hard as well and not very receptive to approach shots. The new undulations make them particularly unfriendly, almost ridiculous. The very steep drop in the middle of the 9th green reminds me of miniature golf - just need to add a windmill. Itâs no longer much fun to play. And I am not at all in favor of the added fairway bunkers which of course are always placed on the left side of the fairway, making it troublesome for those of us who hit a draw. Sorry for all the negativity - just not pleased at all with the changes made other than the alterations made to the 16th hole although I didnât really mind the old 16th...
Read moreMy First time back since the redo starting in late 2022.Formerly my favorite course.Disappointed in fact that carts shut off unexpectedly on parts of holes, not entire hole,so cart in reverse many times. Moreover, fairways in good shape and course opened over 6-8 months ago,so is this a grass preserving reason? No warning signs along cart paths about this as there is at Brack, home of the perpetually closed to cart holes(1,parts of 3,7, parts of 9 ),etc. This- for seniors well into old age, will be a factor in future dates. Why a bunker along almost entire width of #9? Just like the annoying bunkers on #1 and #3 at Brack, not as wide, but finally removed due to popular acclaim. My guess is this on #9, will be shrunk or disappeared. Ted Davis A new update: we played the back today. As 9- holers we usually play the front at all courses missing out on some nice holes. The back nine at Riverside is a treat, fairways lush, and greens excellent. The remaking of #16 into a par 4 is a delight as it cuts out the second dog leg there, and over 100 yards disappears,as does the pond.Looking forward to more back nines...
