Nov 13, 2025 Update I'm reducing another star today as the issue was not resolved. This happened again tonight. The old man remained in the same spot for a considerable amount of time, during which multiple members came and went around him. You can verify this in the attached pictures where he is wearing a blue shirt. Because the stretching area is limited, his prolonged use of the mat made it difficult for others to access that space for their warm-ups or cool-downs. I understand that everyone uses the gym at their own pace, but this has become a recurring issue, and it’s creating congestion and reducing access to an area that many members genuinely need for injury prevention and proper workout routines. Could the staff please keep an eye on this and gently remind members to avoid occupying the stretching mats for extended periods when others are waiting to use them? I believe a friendly reminder about gym etiquette would help keep the space accessible and comfortable for everyone. After he is done he leaves the things he used right beside the mat and walks away without putting them back where they belong. See attached pictures. Thank you for your attention and for maintaining a positive environment at the gym. ----- ----- ----- ----- ------ Nov 12, 2025 Request for Action: Stretching Area Being Monopolized During Peak Hours. I’m writing to bring attention to an ongoing issue in the stretching area that has been affecting many members. During the evening hours—particularly around 5:30 PM—there is a member who regularly occupies one of the three stretching mats for extended periods of time. Rather than using the mat for stretching or exercise, he often lies on it while using his phone, treating it more like a personal lounge space. Because the gym has a very limited stretching area, this behavior is inconsiderate to other members who need the space for actual workouts. I have personally witnessed other gym-goers waiting, getting frustrated, and ultimately leaving the area because they never get a chance to use a mat. I respectfully request that management address this issue for the benefit of all members. Establishing or reinforcing guidelines for proper use of the stretching mats—especially during busy hours—would greatly improve fairness and accessibility. It isn’t right for one person to monopolize shared equipment at the expense of everyone else. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Where do I begin? Dusty, loud, unhealthy temperatures (refer to OSHA and/or IFA guidelines), rude customer-facing personnel.. I have been a member since this branch first opened. The management has recently changed along with the setup and some of the equipment. While a portion of this transition has been positive, there are plenty of old/new persistent urgent issues - unresolved. The facility was hot and humid/stuffy during the 2024 summer (rising temperatures to 76 degrees) and now unacceptably cold (61 degrees on the thermostat - see photo). We work out in layers and inhale cold air during our intense individual workouts. The issue has been discussed with multiple people in charge (for over 2 months now), and yet zilch. Nothing. Additionally, one of the AC units -covering a whole corner area upstairs- is completely out of order and has been blowing cold air for a looong time (maybe a year?). "Want frequent summer UTIs, or a winter sinus/chest infection? Welcome to Crunch, Carmel Valley!" Music used to be -and occasionally still is- too loud for the ear. The amount of dust hanging on and off of every surface at the gym is unbelievable (see photos). Hats off to the management. Given up on having "the conversation" over and over, and exhausted of negotiating the obvious. I am just disappointed. Drive a little further and save your time, energy and mental/physical well-being. Below has been added on 01/07/2024 - in response to the "owner"'s comment: We expect much more from an "owner", Steve! You believe that 76 degrees in the summer and 61 in the winter time is "happy medium"? Then what are the requested extremes and where is the consistency?! And you also claim that those indoor temperatures are "best for safe exercise"? Are these educated comments?! Glad people read these. Provide us with accredited references for whatever you randomly claim - since they contradict what OSHA or IFA have clearly indicated - unless you do not believe in them?! I have zero tolerance for nonsense. Inefficient and flawed management is one thing, you trying to cover that with false statements is another. If legal methods are required for us to clarify the obvious, we can certainly do that. You know what would have been greatly admired in spite of all these issues and problems? Honesty, humbleness, and respect.

I've been in San Diego for a week on vacation. Trying to keep up my workout routine so signing up to different 1-3 day trials. Anytime fitness, 24 hour fitness, LAFitness, and Crunch. The others were soso, you can get a workout in but Crunch is on another level. Very clean and very spacious. It was nice having a little elbow room while working out. Great selection of equipment. Easy parking and friendly staff. When I was talking to the front desk staff they informed me they have a 1 week membership, how cool is that. I highly recommend.

Terrible to non-existent wifii! Before you join just want you to consider that almost 100% of the time there is no or extremely slow wifii. That means you can't text, or listen to any music while you work out. I can't even login to my workout program most of the time. On top of that verizon has a dead spot there - not the gym's fault, but seriously put in better wifii. This isn't 1997. Also they don't care, if you tell the staff, it isn't like they don't know.

I appreciate that you responded, I really do! Maybe there is something I don't understand but in the businesses in the area, right next door, in the same complex, their wifii is very fast. Can't you add more routers, etc?

Also if you workout with free weights. Walk around the gym. There are almost no 5 and 10 lb free weights. People almost fight over them. Get more!!! Every time I do a free weight exercise use I have to rob another station. Just check it out before you join.

Update: Thank you for responding but I don't buy it. All the other businesses in the same center that have wifii it is fast and strong, Starbucks of course is at gigaspeed, but the others work fine. Yours is literally a joke, can't even send a text. Maybe you can get some boosters... just warning BEFORE you join, if you want or need internet. Here is what I mean, I use an app to track my workouts, can't access it while working out. FAIL

Update 8-2-2019 Still not fixed, wifii is a complete joke... Fix it!! Post something about this. Also good luck finding 5 and 10lb weights in the bench press area. Really???

Update 11-12-2019 Guess what, no action, wifii is still a complete joke. Make SURE You check it out when you go there to tour. You will not be able to use wifii for listening to music or sending a text.

Also if you use free weights go check out the 5lb and 10lb. There are NEVER enough. I have asked many times and been told they will get more, they don't. Someone said that management won't spend the money. So make sure you take a look at the people trying to find 5 and 10lb weights in the free weight area. Ridiculous.

Update 2-4-20 I received a survey to fill out. I told them about the WiFi and free weight issues. Guess what no one ever contacted me. Why pay for surveys that you don’t act on. What a joke. Don’t join!!!

Update 3-10-20 Been working out and guess what, still super slow Wifii to non-existent and even worse, still not enough 5, 10 and 25 lb weights in the free weight area. So it's been literally months since I had been told multiple times they would get more weights. This is a total joke. A gym with never enough weights to work out with. Just go when its busy, walk around the free weight area you will see what I mean. THEY DON'T CARE!

10-20-2020 update I joined Bay Club and so happy I did. I love it!!! Cost more but worth every penny. Fast reliable WiFi. Amazing staff and awesome equipment. Just do not join Crunch if you can avoid it. They never ever fixed any of the issues I mentioned and never even responded to my requests or even the promises I made. They do make good excuses...
