Bonchon Village Way — Restaurant in San Diego

I am a big fan of this chain. My first bonchon experience was at the Manhattan location when I lived in New York and I was instantly a fan. I was so excited to see them make their way to San Diego a few years ago, and regularly find myself at the Convoy location. When I saw the Carmel Valley one on my way out of a doctor's appointment, I was ecstatic. Happy to have one geographically closer to me. However, I'm not sure if this is just a one-time thing and I caught them on an off day, or if they're curbing their flavors to be more mild to accommodate the demographic of the area... cough cough... but my kimchi fried rice was BLAND AF. And my chicken was also very lightly sauced compared to how I'm accustomed to having it served at the other locations I've been to. I will definitely come back, but I will most likely ask for extra sauce and more kimchi in my fried rice. Not mad, just a...

I ordered here at least 10x in the last month. It is not good for my waistline, so I must walk to get the delicious lunch special. I get the half/half (hot and sweet) and have tried:

seasoned fries -meh. Regular French fries- yummy Coleslaw- I like this but would like to see a little bit more in the small Side container. Rice- you can’t go wrong with rice (I add furikake when I get home)

My favorite is still the combo (wings and drumsticks) and prefer the strips over the boneless wings. It’s a clean place. I ordered 4 to go meals yesterday for my sons birthday. I picked it up in 35 minutes around 1:40 pm.

We were not able to get our food!! We ordered food for 10 people via DoorDash, after waiting 2 hours the driver called me from the store asking if we had canceled our order as that is what Bonchon was claiming. I did not cancel my order!! DoorDash customer support also called me asking if I had canceled my order and I told them the same thing that I had not canceled. The customer support agent confirmed that in the DoorDash system they did NOT see an order cancelation. It seems as though Bonchon's is very unorganized with their ordering system.
