Phenomenal Escape Room — Local services in San Diego

We were so hyped to play this game, especially because of all the fantastic reviews, but after playing, we don’t understand the reviews at all.

I’ve never had to do an entire room with my arms chained behind my back. I thought there most certainly had to be a key somewhere. Nope. My entire hour consisted of me only being able to interact at hip level and to make matters worse, during my escape, my cuffs locked tighter around my wrist and by the end of the game my wrist was visibly red and swollen. But I didn’t complain enough, so that’s on me.

Unfortunately, there’s zero immersion and no live actor. Yes, you’re in a room with blood on the walls and some cheesy limbs, but that’s it. My partner and I freed ourselves and we were told we had to wait for other players to get out before we could progress. But then we discovered that wasn’t true at all. We were the first ones out of our cells and helped free others. After that, it’s literally 1 puzzle per room (that only one person can do) and you’re done. It’s so sad. We thought we were barely getting started and the game ended! There is nothing scary about this room. Nothing thrilling. Nothing exciting.

Edit to Owner: We drove 100 miles to play this room so we anticipated enjoying it very much. Your game master told us they had never played an escape room before and it definitely showed. As for the handcuffs, I know you expect us to slip our arms under our legs to get out, but my shoulder dislocates, so that’s impossible for me, that’s a poor design flaw on YOU not on me. But even if I did turn my cuffs around, there was nothing left to do. I’ve played almost 100 rooms, this was by far the worst. I can’t help but notice your fantastic reviews mostly consist of new players that don’t know what an amazing escape room looks like. I’m sorry we didn’t enjoy your room, but again,...

Very creative and sophisticated escape room. It’s challenging, yet, it’s not boring by being solely based on simple riddles like most of these in town. I went with a few friends and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience - it was nice that we each solved different challenges and by putting all out wit together did we finally find the way out.

The design and authenticity was also something special that wasn’t overlooked. I recommend you give this a shot with your besties!

Oh, arrive early because parking is challenging, it’s located in a busy part of town. If you’re anxious and prefer to maintain your sanity, luckily there’s parking across the street (in the side street) for like $2...totally worth it if you’re not...

I've been to several escape rooms, and this one is by far my new favorite. The staff was awesome and made the whole experience really fun. The rooms have interactive props, not just the cheesy flimsy things I've seen in other rooms. I liked how this particular room required collaboration. I've been in other rooms that attempted to make you work together, but one person could run the whole game. In this room, it takes team work, or you're not getting out.
