Joshua Tree Catering Co. — Local services in San Dimas

I really wanted to support a local caterer for my event and the website and menu here looked fantastic. After waiting for 4 days to get even some simple questions answered about the service, process and next steps from an owner who clearly gave off the heir of “I don’t need your business” in all our communications. I was finally able to get my questions answered and move forward with an invoice (that needed to be pid in-full to lock in my dates btw).

When I asked the owner Kristi about why there were hundreds of dollars of added “mystery” charges on my invoice (for the already quite steep $50-100/person menu) plus $500 delivery she was only able to respond with “this is how it’s done in catering and if you can’t afford it I’d be happy to recommend some other caterers in the area”.

When I asked if the mystery fees could be removed if they couldn’t be explained she voided my invoice and said “our prices are non-negotiable, best of luck”.

I’m now less than a week from my event with no catering in place feeling stressed and somehow “poor shamed” by my caterer that I was about to pay $2k+ for a single meal.

As an entrepreneur myself I understand the difficulty of having to do everything in a business and becoming jaded with customer service but honestly if you’re this quick to disrespect folks that want to support you, it’s time to hire some customer service or find some other work.

I’m sorry to do this but I would not only not recommend but suggest to actively avoid this business as long as Kristi is interfacing with customers. Definitely not a caterer you...

I have used Joshua Tree Catering Company for three events, including my mother’s funeral, and I’ve always been highly impressed with each experience. Entrusting Kristi to take care of my events was an absolute blessing. This company is dedicated to go above and beyond for you plus the food and presentation are incredible! I find it very upsetting someone has labeled Kristi as “jaded, disrespectful, and unreliable” on the review board based off a short interaction where the company’s services were not even used. To encourage the avoidance of a small woman-owned business without even deeming the service is volatile. I’ve spoken to Kristi numerous times and this woman is extraordinary. I apologize for taking this matter so personally; however, I will not allow a bully to speak ill of this wonderful company. I cannot begin to express how graciously Kristi took care of my mother’s funeral and the stress she personally took on to alleviate my own burdens. Their attention to detail, compassion, flexibility, and efficiency shows true entrepreneurship and professionalism. The company is extremely affordable especially for the quality and care you’ll receive. She even took care of my dog during an event where the sitter pulled out last minute. JTC is the best! We’ve used their services multiple times now when visiting the Joshua Tree area. We recently had a most excellent private dining experience and chef Kristi thought over everything to make it special; from a custom Mediterranean menu to crafting a special mocktail that paired with the meal… and a killer baklava cheesecake! We’ve also had JTC deliver meals to us for weekends when we’re in town with friends and don’t want to spend our quality time cooking - the taco bar is incredible and feeds so many, the breakfast burritos were a hit, and the charcuterie spread gets all the compliments.
