My friend and I were visiting San Francisco for a golf trip. On our last day of our trip before flying out, we found a cheap tee time at Gleneagles. 4 of us showed up for our tee time, and the guy in the proshop/restaurant was a total prick. I told him we were checking in for our tee time, and the first thing he says is “there are so many things wrong with this booking, why are there 4 of you here.” I have never had an issue having an extra person coming as long as they pay for their own seat on the cart. In fact, we played Presidio the day before with a friend in the cart who wasn’t golfing - they simply paid for their seat. Anyway, he wouldn’t allow our friends to come out with us even though there were no other people on our reservation & we were golfing as a duo. Then, before we even left the proshop, before we even PAID for our cart, the proshop attendant was accosting my friend about not having brought her own set of clubs - which she did. “Players must use their own clubs at all times & I only saw 1 bag out there and it’s not yours.” When in fact, the clubs outside the proshop WERE hers, I hadn’t even had a chance to ask for a rental set for myself yet. All in all, our experience was disappointing considering we played spectacular courses the 3 days prior. I am shocked to see so many positive reviews, but figured I’d leave a real one… especially after being corrected to stay on the cart path when there in fact is no cart part or signage anywhere in sight. Not even a sign to show you what hole you were at. I also thought it was a poor design to have disk golf happening at the same time on the same holes, making us wait for people throwing frisbees so we didn’t hit them with our golf balls. 1 star was for the greens, they were in great condition. Everything else was unbearably dry - I mean, even our courses up in Canada...
Read moreThis review is directed primarily at the newly added 18-hole disc golf course as well as the facilities, rather than the traditional golf tees.
This place is a hidden gem in the middle of the city. Though there are some rough spots on the massive property, the owners have done an amazing job in revitalizing the greens and keeping the course looking great despite the fact that it doesn't get the traffic that it deserves. The clubhouse is a cool slice of history, and with the friendly staff it's always a pleasure to drop in. Nice and unique views of the bay
The new disc golf course is fun and uses the available space well without crowding greens, but there's rarely any crowding where that would become an issue. Top notch teepads and baskets. The course gets WINDY later in the day, which can be a welcome challenge, or not, depending on your mood. A diverse range of shots are needed to make it through the course, but unless you're and advanced player don't expect to...
Read moreAn absolute beast of a disc golf course. 18 long holes usually accompanied by whipping winds. This a 100% professional caliber course, as evidenced by the recent San Francisco Open major tournament held there (watch it on YouTube!). Parking can be limited and street parking in the area is not a great idea as cars get broken into frequently. I always take Lyft there. There's a pro shop with food and drinks and you can rent a golf cart if you want, though I wouldn't recommend it as carts have to stay on the path and many baskets are tucked in the woods away from the paths. The only thing stopping this course from getting 5 stars is the cost. Green fees are upwards of 20 dollars, and more on weekends. It's worth the cost to play at least once, but for a free option go play the amazing course in...
