Finally discovered this place because of COVID and having the time to discover the local gems such as San Bruno mountain - Twin Peaks and of course Mclaren Park! twisting trails to walk and bike in, a nice big field to throw my discs, a decent tennis court that's kind of hidden and even a skatepark that we didn't know was there until my gf pointed across the football field and soccer area and saw some skaters in the distance. My son and I checked it out and there was a freakin bowl with smaller half pipe area, some small banks etc. We were stoked but let me just say the bowl is pretty deep in the deep end and the half pipe or shallow end is maybe 4 - 5 feet, def rideable but surface is real gnarly and grafiti covered. After riding the shallow end I decided to carve the deep end and man was it sketchy! The local park is complete with something...

I lived on the west side of San Francisco for 5 years before a client convinced me to explore McLaren Park with them for a family photo session. I was completely surprised at how extensive and various the natural spaces were. You'll find eucalyptus, redwood, and oak forests all within a short walk of one another. My sense is that it is a place to remain alert and visit during daylight hours, ideally with other folks. That said we didn't notice any safety concerns during our...

Growing up in this area, i miss the trails without cars, cement, dogs, parking lots, n people.. In the 50s 60s we picked n ate black berries, blue berries, raspberry berries, we had rolling grass and rock hills. We had Family own farms, horse stables, rose nurseries, but it still has beautiful views, walking trails, rolling grass for picnics, basketball n tennis courts and the streets have been updated for these...

One of San Francisco's largest yet most-overlooked parks, there are spectacular vistas from the top. You can get here via public transport or private car, and will be rewarded with open vistas of the Bay and beyond. Unlike Golden Gate Park you might even have vast areas of the park entirely to yourself! Great for dog walking too. Secret tip: park in the lot at Bowdoin for these great views.

McLaren is an underrated park in San Francisco. Golden Gate Park gets much more attention, but McLaren is worth a visit. There are many hiking trails, a pickle ball court, a dog pond, and a new playground with grills and picnic tables.
