Modern Nail Bar — Local services in San Francisco

This is supposed to be a constructive review for this facility i,e if they even care to improve. The owner/operator lady needs to calm down on her attitude and treat customers better. This place is so unwelcoming, uncomfortable to be in. Their manicures are fine. However, they stare at you as soon as you enter as if you are in the WRONG place. If you ask for an appointment she gives really curt responses and acts annoyed.Then while tipping, she stares at you and the cash you are giving away to I guess shame you into giving more. I have never experienced such aggressive treatment by a service business! Their services are over priced compared to other places in the nearby neighbourhoods so with that said, I would expect top class treatment. I gave them a second chance recently as anyone can have a bad day but no, this experience was even worse. Will never try them again but i hope they understand that they are in a SERVICE business and if they can't act well, they should...

Avoid at all costs. I went in to remove my shellac nails that I had gotten done perfectly at another place. They did not tell me that they did not understand what shellac was and forcefully removed it by filing all the polish off. I explained multiple times that you should not be filing off shellac and it should just be dissolvable after acetone but they refused to listen to me and blamed it on the fact that I had gotten them done elsewhere. I’m left with very damaged nails and there’s still polish stuck on them. I have no choice now but to wait 6 months until my nails grow out. To make matters worse, this should have been a 5-10$, 20 min removal but they charged me $20 and I was there for an hour and a half while they damaged every one...

This place really needs to improve. While cutting my cuticles, the lady nipped my skin open accidentally (little bit of blood). When I pointed it out and asked her to be careful she just said “yeah, yeah”. Zero acknowledgement or apology.

The paint job was uneven (see photo) and you can tell most of the nail polishes are really old.

While I was waiting for my nails to dry, I was the only one there briefly and it was the least relaxing environment possible.

Further, like another reviewer mentioned, they watch you while you tip and the lowest option on the tablet is 20%.
