Tennis Courts | Central Park — Local services in San Mateo

San Mateo Central Park tennis courts are great! Be sure to get there before 9am to get a court, especially as the days warm up. The condition of the courts is excellent and they maintain the windbreakers on the fence as well. Perhaps the only reason I wouldn't rate it a five-star is due to the odd resonance you can hear and feel, given that it is above a parking garage. 6 courts in total with some tree coverage. This is a great place to practice or play with a friend. I definitely recommend checking this spot out and it's just a block south of most downtown restaurants and scenery. Restrooms and water fountains are available and reserving a court is not an option.

May 2023 update: they've added pickleball lines to the courts and repaired the fences that were knocked down in...

Solid courts but they turned 2 of them into pickleball so there’s only 4 tennis courts now, which is the same number as Beresford.

Don’t come on the weekends. You’ll end up waiting 1-2 hours for a court. People don’t respect the 30 minute rally / 2 set queue system so it’s a shitshow to get a court.

Weekdays are great here, although 4-7pm after work can be full in the summer.

The tennis courts are nice, but watch out for the entitled old Karens that are rude to people on a public court. Never experienced such bratty and miserable codgers that act like they own the courts and are playing a “serious tennis game” when they hit balls at 10 mph. You ain’t it, stop acting like you are.
