It disheartens me to give this review but I am completely disappointed with this restaurant.
Arrived at the restaurant around 7:30pm on Friday, and there were 34 tables ahead. So we left and decided to come back the next day (just in case you want to know, I received a text message saying "our table is ready" around 9:30).
Below is the timeline of our Sunday lunch: 11:38am I joined the queue outside; 12 mins later, my boyfriend and I were given a table; 5 mins later, we wrote down our order and gave it to the server; 22 minutes(!!!) later we were still waiting for the POT to come. We got all the raw dishes, and it shouldn't take this long time to prepare the broth. No one approached to our table or "check-back" with us, so I called the server and guess what, she told me that she FORGOT TO SEND OUR BROTH ORDER!!! What!!??? If we hesitated to ask, would we spend another 30 minutes to wait? Almost half an hour after we sat down, our 3-flavor pot was finally here. HOWEVER, it did not boil at all after waiting for another 15 minutes! When I called the server again, he told us that the 3-flavor pot should take longer time to boil than single-flavor or 2-flavor pots. Instead of telling us after we realized and asked, they should inform us when we ordered the food, shouldn't they? 3-flavor pot costs more than the other pots do, but they need to inform the customers about EXTREMELY long boiling time for the customer’s sake.
Due to lack of professional attitude (forgetting our broth order + knowing that the induction cooktop is not hot enough to effectively boil the pot without telling the customer), they made us finally have our first bite 55 MINUTES after we sat down. This is a hot pot restaurant! It's not a Michelin style restaurant!!
The star is for the good ingredients and authentic taste of food.
Though the server did say sorry to us and help us packing the leftover, we - as customers - have no obligation to pay for their fault and...

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review: If you're looking for an extraordinary hot pot experience in San Mateo, look no further than Liuyishou! This place has taken my love for hot pot to a whole new level with their incredible flavors, exceptional service, and the introduction of their new item, the Luosifen hot pot. Trust me when I say, you won't find a more satisfying and authentic hot pot experience anywhere else.
Let's start with the star of the show—the Luosifen hot pot. This new addition to their menu is an absolute game-changer. The rich and aromatic broth combined with the unique texture of the rice noodles creates a symphony of flavors in every bite. The assortment of fresh ingredients, including succulent seafood, tender meats, and vibrant vegetables, perfectly complements the broth, resulting in a harmonious blend of taste and textures. This is a dish that will tantalize your taste buds and keep you coming back for more.
Now, let's talk about the hit item, the fried Chinese doughnut with shrimp paste and beef tongue. This delectable combination might sound unusual at first, but trust me, it's a match made in culinary heaven. The crispiness of the doughnut, coupled with the savory shrimp paste and the melt-in-your-mouth tenderness of the beef tongue, creates an explosion of flavors that is both surprising and addictive. Each bite is a delightful journey of textures and tastes, and it's no wonder that this item has become a crowd favorite.
Apart from the fantastic food, the service at Liuyishou is second to none. The staff is incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and always ready to assist you in creating your perfect hot pot experience. They patiently explain the menu, offer recommendations, and ensure that your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional. The cleanliness and inviting ambiance of the restaurant further add to the overall charm...
Read moreThe food is good but one of the servers (they only have 2 servers at that time, the older one's attitude really need to be changed. I went there on Tuesday lunch time around 11:40, once I stepped inside the restaurant, I saw an angry face standing there. Then he seated us to a table that is not 6 feet away from the other group of 2 (I'm ok with that but there is no physical barrier between those two tables, all other tables have physical barriers!!!!!)
As a healthcare provider, I asked him to sit the other tables that has physical barriers and probably 6 feet away from that group. The server got upset, EXCUSE ME????We are still in a pandemic, I want to make sure I will not get COVID by having protection of a barrier and follow the CDC guideline of 6 feet away from others!!!If you don't want to live a longer life or you want to get COVID, do it. I DON"T!!!!!
We ordered a mixed soup base and 1 or 2 minutes later when all my friends here, we wanted to order another one, we asked that server that we want another one...HE heaved a sigh of impatience, then told us that that specific table can not have three soup base even it can have three induction cooktops that can have three soup base. And we have to sit that dangerous spot without 6 feet away from other table and no physical barrier, then we said one base is fine...
The store has signs of keep 6 feet away, but that specific server obviously not want to follow it!!!! THEN GO HOME!!!!DON'T WORK!!!! The other server who seems younger is nice and...
