Rich is the owner of Northern Lights and was recommended by a very satisfied neighbor who had him do work on her home and couldn’t stop singing his praises. She is not one to exaggerate and is quite particular about her home environment. I needed some recessed can lights installed in my ceiling and strip lighting hard wired in my china cabinet. After getting my quote, there was no time wasted before getting to work. Rich took care of getting the permits I needed and then showed up right away with his crew to do an extraordinary job for me.

These are the things that stood out most to me:

Rich is very polite, not only to his clients, but to his employees. He speaks to them with the same respect as he does to clients. The workers were also very respectful to me and to each other. Everyone showed up on time and the work was done quickly and perfectly. His team took special care to prep, not hurrying through it, but making sure my furniture, carpet, appliances and walls were protected. They did little extra things for me just on their own. When they checked my smoke alarms and found I needed new ones to be safe, they went to the store, bought them, installed them and didn’t charge me.

I would give Northern Lights Electric more stars if I could! Working with Rich and his team was an absolute breeze from start to finish. When we moved in the summer of 2024, our home inspection flagged an outdated electrical panel—both the main and subpanel—as something that needed attention. I wanted to get both replaced, along with a few other electrical updates, and started reaching out to contractors.

His expertise and thorough explanations gave me confidence in the process. His team was incredibly professional—always on time, communicative, and respectful of our home. They kept us informed every step of the way, and whenever I had a question or concern, Rich responded almost immediately.

We had terrific customer service from Rich’s crew at Northern Lights during our four-month whole-house remodel. They made a lot of critical decisions for us like best location for the sub-panel and how to snake new circuitry to the far side of the house while opening up the fewest number of drywall holes. There was even one instance when the 220V outlet had to be moved for the range installation, and they were able to be on site within half an hour to accommodate the appliance installers. All the finishing touches including the under-cabinet LEDs and pendant lights and Lutron Caseta smart lighting are amazing, and the crew was very considerate of being clean and quiet when we were in the house for remote schooling and work from home.
