Canyon Lakes Golf Course — Local services in San Ramon

Found it near our destination and the menu looked amazing. Lots of choices to please everyone in our party. Quick, late lunch then on our way.

Even though a handful of empty tables, we were told we could be seated by no ordering for 15 minutes. Um okay. 15 min later we order drinks. 15 min later they arrive. One beer and one kids lemonade. Two appetizers (generic pretzels and hummus plate with veggies) took another 20-30 minutes.

Also, throughout the restaurant, the table rules are clearly posted. 90 min limit.

Our entrees arrived at the 90 min mark. There was no urgency or quickness by any of the staff. And honestly thought they were all high cuz they were walking around with dull faces and just kind of blah.

When our server walked by I asked for a box and the check and then handed him the credit card. We were done and our patience exhausted.

Two hour lunch not during a rush. Just not great and super unexpected and...

Really disappointing golf course. The brewery is awesome and beers are great. The lookout from the brewery is also beautiful. But here's the issue with the course: It is priced similar to Callippe. Yet, not a single green has been rolled within the past decade, and all but one of them has diseased patches that make the putting GRUESOME. I'm not kidding.. we ended up having to play punched-green rules (max 2-putt). Condition of tee boxes and fairways are sub-par. Tee boxes are slanted and some fairways and roughs look like the desert. Rock hard dirt where grass used to be. Puddles elsewhere. Sand traps are concrete. No effort whatsoever on these.

It is my least favorite public course in East Bay (San Ramon, Dublin, Las Positas, Callippe, Wente, Boundary Oaks... all are preferable to this course).

So we came with some friends on a Friday night with no kids. We had appetizers and a drink each. The beer selection is large and varied as you would expect as it is a brewery. We had the hummus and Ahi Tuna, both were excellent. Our friend who is a vegetarian and makes her own hummus said it was excellent.

We enjoyed it so much we came back Saturday after the kids soccer game. I had the Hot off the grill Salmon with brown rice and vegetables (I requested all carrots). It was a blackened salmon that was cooked perfect. The had beef tacos that looked delicious. I did not have any as I am not a fan of sour cream.

Ok overall it was excellent food and service. We had been her previously for a holiday party. I did not review that ad it was a buffet and a not a normal meal. I was going to give it 4 stars because I think 5 is for elite. I could not find a reason to knock it down a star so I have to...
