Nob Hill Foods — Local services in Santa Clara

This is my quick go to Grocery shopping place. It's not as big as Lucky or Safeway with loads of choices but still good given it's so close to all the residential area. They have fresh vegetables, meats ,snacks, frozen foods, bakery products ,dairy products & fresh seafood (very limited) also they have a deli which is a plus I have tried soups, tamales, sandwiches , enchiladas all were good they also have few desserts like cakes & donuts. Pre pandemic they had fresh hot foods hoping they might start again. Their staff is always kind & very helpful plus added bonus for me is since I am a member ( which is free) I get lots of discounts & free stuff. I receive all digital coupons on their app which is so helpful, nowadays who remember to carry the coupon & track it . Store is always clean & they restock fresh produce daily. Andrea, the bakery/deli manager has led to my lost confidence in this company's commitment to customer service. I have been going to Raley's, Nob Hill, and Bel Air stores (for sandwiches) my entire life. Throughout my childhood, and currently until now, when they did not have a sourdough baguette to make my sandwich, they would get one from the sales floor, a common practice. Andrea said this is not possible, that I would have to pay for the baguette separately, in addition to paying for the sandwiches. I even told them I was going to purchase multiple sandwiches and would use the whole baguette. I used to work at Raley's and I know the intense training that staff go through with relation to customer service. Apparently Andrea missed that part of the training. What a shame employees like this are tarnishing the stores long held traditions of customer service...

I went into Nob Hill to grab some items as I approached the register Elio and his coworker were suddenly talking back-and-forth in Spanish, I let them know that I can understand them and that why I couldn’t they just talk in English as I was checking out. Elio replied to me That that’s his culture and that’s how they do things there in the store. I replied to him that, this is why the Latino people are being deported. They have no respect for Americans. He then started telling me about white people being at the head of Mexicans being deported, which has nothing to do with me I’m black.
