I'm taking one star away because of pricing not necessarily of the range per se but of the store in the same facility. I've noted that pretty much all new guns are about $50 more than MSRP and that the used guns are even more expensive than new. Please note that once you start the gun buying process you will have a hard time to get out of the purchase after the 10 day wait period. This is understandable but still regrettable so please make sure you are certain of the gun you want to buy. There are other larger chains that would be easier for you if you change your mind if you don't mind driving a bit. I think that would be a better for a new gun owner. Also note that you must buy at least one box of ammo from the range if you rent the gun there. You can read my original review below. My go to range in the Bay Area and probably the only indoor range still available in the Bay Area. I like Reed's because it's friendly towards beginners and it's actually located within the Bay Area and even though it's indoors it allows you to shoot buckshots which is extremely rare among all shooting ranges. The price is fair at $20 per hour per person per lane and can be extremely crowded in the weekend. It's a good price if you are shooting alone but when you have 2 or more per lane it adds up. The ammo pricing for the range is also fair and when they run sales on ammo it's actually not a bad deal. There is also a gun store attached to the shooting range and it's not bad either. It's not the cheapest but they are knowledgeable and helpful. Parking can be tricky but you can always find in the back around the corner except you'll have to walk with your gear.

Ive been to many ranges and this one was really great. Though it is an indoor range so be ready for loud, it wasn't the loudest I've been too. It might have been that there weren't a lot of people there. We went on a Thursday afternoon. We were instantly helped by a gentleman who knew his stuff. You can shoot shotguns here as long as it is lead shot. We kept the two lanes for about an hour and ran through about 200 rounds. We then went out closed out our rental and went and looked at some guns. They has a nice selection of handguns as well as some rifles and shot guns. All seemed to be reasonably priced and the people behind the counter were knowledgeable. We will be back next time I am in town for sure.

I have been to this place quite often and you get both ends of the spectrum as far as customer service. .If you go in with a bad vibe you'll get a bad vibe as well as the opposite. I'll start with my bad time.. went in looking for a particular piece of equipment and was pulled to a halt when I found the item I was looking for due to there was a bunch of people crowding the cabinets (obviously window shopping and had arrived much later than I) but I understand customer service they were trying to do their best.. I was ready to do business and had to wait 25 mins to catch someone available. younger guy.. I told him I'm ready to make a purchase I need this over here.. He nods his head then starts helping a female instead.. I waited 10 more mins then left the store...ignoring the situation I returned the next day and was helped quickly and painlessly by an older guy..that was just over a year ago...since then I have repeatedly been here with no real memorable times other than picking up cleaning kits or putting holes in paper.. well now to what brought us here a year or so later.. they just happened to have a Lil dream of mine sitting in the back of the .45 cabinet and I didn't notice it at first.. it was the same old guy he must've spent an hour with my friend and I talking firearms quickly grabbing any of the firearms that we pointed at talking about ups and down and even a little brand whoring..During the chat I think he caught wind of the type of handgun I was searching for (maybe, maybe not) but he goes over picks it up and says I think you'll find this one is a nice one... and there it was that hard to find black tactical beauty.. now having seen this my buddy looks a the tag and says bet you could find that on gun broker cheaper.. me thinking the same thing.. I kept my opinion quiet.. even with other customers in the store he was attentive to us even tho we seemed to just be lingering.. He continued to pull anything and everything off the shelf for us.. I walked out of there with only a cleaning kit...spent all night trying to find a lower price on gun broker, arms list, anywhere...I won't say this about all their pistols but they had the lowest buy it now price on gun broker beat by about 250.00 that's including doj and reg.. I was sold on it went back the next day.. He recognized me and I said what do I need to put down to get this on hold for me.. He replied half.. I said ouch I don't have half I got about 40% if that.. He said well here is the deal we are looking for real buyers you know how much you got.. I popped a number and he said we will do it.. freaking great right.. As he is pulling it off the shelf he hesitate for just a moment and says you know we got one in the back that hasn't been on display would you like that one instead? I said sure.. He let me check them both out and make my decision I went with the one that hadn't seen the light of day yet..to me that is incredible customer service and he earned my business aswell as I might just pick up the other one they had as soon as my CA cool down period is up because twin pistols with consecutive serials of a dream pistol well to me that's just waiting to be put on display as a small life trophy.. can't have the bad...

Extremely Unpleasant Experience. The shop decision maker handed me a loaded weapon!

I write this review with a heavy heart as I recount an unsettling experience at Reeds Indoor Range. As a cadet with over 10 years of experience, I visited this range with the expectation of professional and respectful treatment. Unfortunately, my experience was far from that.

Accompanied by my companion, a distinguished Marine with 22 years of service, we presented our credentials at the entrance. We were then asked to demonstrate our firearm handling skills. Despite his flawless execution of the gun clearing process, my companion was unjustly critiqued for supposedly moving the gun back "too far" - a criticism that seemed unnecessarily nitpicky and irrelevant to the safety or efficiency of the procedure.

When I took my turn, I was chastised and informed that I had failed the demonstration because I swapped hands during the process - a common maneuver employed in various tactical situations. Consequently, we were denied the opportunity to rent firearms. The reasons provided for our so-called failure were confounding and seemed to have been conjured out of thin air.

What distressed me the most was the apparent discriminatory undertone throughout our interaction. Being of Afghan heritage, I couldn't help but sense racial profiling that marred our entire encounter. It seemed as if the staff was looking for reasons to deny us service, creating an environment that felt unwelcoming and marginalizing.

Businesses, especially those in the field of firearm handling, ought to prioritize not only safety and professionalism but also uphold the principles of respect, fairness, and inclusivity. Regrettably, Reeds Indoor Range fell significantly short of these basic expectations.

I pen this review to inform potential patrons about the unprofessional treatment we received. My hope is that Reeds Indoor Range takes this feedback seriously, reevaluates their practices, and commits to treating all customers with fairness and respect, regardless of their racial or ethnic backgrounds. It may be a challenging path, but it is essential to creating a welcoming environment for everyone.

Until such changes are made, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Reeds Indoor Range to anyone, particularly individuals of diverse backgrounds who anticipate being treated with the dignity, fairness, and respect they deserve.

Time of incident July 22nd 1730hrs.

Employee under Fire: Male, Asian, well rounded, tactical glasses, 5'6, big ego.

Owners... Please review the tape.

Please note: I'm left handed using your right handed pistols appropriately. Please train your employees on how to handle weapons and make sure they don't hand loaded pistols in scenarios such as these. You should fire your employee for failing my...

It seems like a decent place for most folks but if you're not a US citizen don't bother going here. I was told over the phone that I just need to bring my passport to the range and I could rent. On arriving however, I was informed by the extremely high handed and rude staff that I need to bring someone with a valid US ID and "firearms experience" to be able to rent. I've been to ranges before and this appears to be a rather discriminatory practice.

Edit: Went there a second time with a friend since I figured i shouldn't be too upset over a small miscommunication (it's possible the person on the phone was new/ill informed). I was greeted by a man called JJ. I've read older reviews and he seems to be the same south Asian dude mentioned in other posts. I guess i'm not the only one who's had a bad experience with him . Anyway, he promptly put on an air of arrogance and asked us to prove our firearms experience by loading a snap cap into a pistol of our choice. Not being familiar with American arms, i asked him for a Browning HP or a Luger, which he denied having (I've read other comments and at least one says that he was given a Browning HP to rent so IDK). It seemed that this gentleman was simply looking for an excuse to turn us down.

I asked my friend to take the "test" since he grew up. My friend, who primarily shoots long guns, was understandably nervous and though he did load and unload the 1911, JJ majestically declared that he cannot allow us to rent on grounds of inexperience. When i asked him if could take the "test" instead he asked us to come the next day since only one person per group could do so. Ridiculous.

When I politely specified that I'd like to give a Glock 17 a go since i've used one at least once ( a few years back tbh) and the operation isn't very different from the Browning (Safety/slide/Magazine catch and trigger), he accused me of trying to "misrepresent information" and asked me to come the next day. While I understand that safety is important, this seems like a fairly ridiculous excuse to turn us away considering that I'm a competitive shooter in my home country and clearly knew more about firearm mechanics than the guy behind the counter. Overall I'd say avoid this place like the plague if you're looking to be treated with respect and just want to have...
