An Exceptional Appointment

My former doctor recently moved on to work at UCLA so I have needed to replace him for awhile. Finally a couple weeks back I popped into PlatinumCare to schedule a physical after my Pain Specialist in the same building gave me a requested referral.

The receptionists at the front were very helpful and quickly set me up for an appointment the following week and sent me home with a new patient packet to fill out.

Fast Forward to the Appointment.

When I walked through the door Triniece immediately gave me a warm welcome by name and expediently checked me in. The receptionists as a whole were very attentive and remembered me from the prior week which is pretty amazing. Props to all three Linda, Ruby and especially Triniece!

Within a few minutes I was called back to a room and immediately Nurse Practitioner Dina Fazon introduced herself, went through the basics and began taking my medical history which is rather extensive. She was incredibly thorough and upon completion I was shuffled down the hall for blood-work and was given a perfect pain free poke. One of the best I've ever receive and since I've a chronic condition I've certainly had more than my fair share.

After the blood draw I was introduced to Dr. Aggerwal who reviewed my results, and went over some details with me regarding my family history. He really took his time and I felt he really valued me as a patient and not just a number he has to get through to meet any type of quota. They had their heart guy in the clinic and asked if I would like to take advantage and see him today. (It was really neat to see my heart beating when they were looking at heart function.) Being able to get this all taken care of in one appointment was awesome. I am used to having the blood work and any extra tests requiring additional appointments or referrals to other locations, it was certainly nice to knock everything out all at once.

Self Care LA is THE place! It’s under new ownership (Doctor K!) and has undergone a ‘face-lift’ of its own with all new interior design, which is just amazing.

I made an appointment here on a recommendation from a friend who had gone to get Microneedling and Clear+Brilliant. Making the appointment was super easy, I called in and Marine the office manager offered a couple different options and I quickly made my appointment for a "vampire facial" with PRP. She also mentioned during the call to bring a wide brimmed hat and to drink plenty of water the day of. These tips are critical, you’ll see why.

The day of my appointment arrives and I’m greeted by Marine and Nahal (the most fashionable PA ever!), they get me settled in for the numbing and blood draw. It’s a good thing I drank a lot of water because my veins were plump for the blood draw. While I’m numbing for about 30 mins and my blood is in the centrifuge (spelling?), Marine asked if I want something to eat or drink or if I want to watch tv so I don’t get bored! I opted for hot tea and Netflix.

The actual procedure only takes about 15 mins, Nahal made sure I was comfortable throughout the process and even recommended to go a little deeper on a couple old scars. I did bleed quite a bit, but that’s normal, but it DID NOT hurt.

I was given an aftercare pouch with some post-procedure serum and instructions on what I can and can’t do for 2 days. I’m so so glad Marine told me to bring a hat because you do need to really protect your skin from the sun for a couple days - even the 2 mins walk to the car!

BTW, Nahal also checked in on me a few days later to see how I was doing! Love this place, I’ll be coming here anytime I’m on...

I have wanted to take steps to look younger for years but I am new to the world of injectables and did not know where to start. I'm so happy that a friend referred me to Dr. Kothakota. During our initial meeting, I was very nervous because it was my first time getting Botox but he took the time to explain in detail what the procedure entailed and patiently answered every question I had. After the first appointment, he went above and beyond to check in with me to see how I was feeling and if I was happy, which I was (the fine lines on my forehead and around my eyes have been drastically reduced)!
