I am gym shopping right now and visited this place earlier today so this review is based off my first impression. I've been a gym rat for almost 30 yrs and gym environment feels like a second home.. This gym has a huge variety of equipment and honestly while I was surprised for seeing so many ppl at the gym (I don't think I've seen so many ppl in one place since I moved down here) there were no lines or waiting time to anything! Same with cardio section... I have to say I seemed to be the only one - and it was super crowded today, maybe everybody back after the holidays, however nobody cleaned after themselves and it was nasty... I mean they have cleaning stuff like every 5-6 feet so I don't understand how ppl can be so ignorant. I wish the gym would require this or at least ppl using towels. I tried their dance class too, while the fitness room needs some work, it was just ok. They don't follow any les miles concepts etc so you have to take it for what it is... I really wanted to try their anti gravity yoga that comes up on their website but it's not available here in Sarasota. The water message was awesome but there were only tissues and nothing else to clean it with so it felt a little nasty. I didn't visit the locker room or Yoga section but I did like that their sales ppl were sitting in a corner, usually you see desks around the gym and it doesn't look good at all. Mitch gave me a tour and was super helpful although it was his 2nd day. He didn't know everything but he made sure to answer my questions and was very polite. I want to give EOS a chance before I sign up so we'll see. I do fear the reviews on Yelp, many ppl complaining about the personnel here. Unfortunately Crunch offers only 1 day pass so it's difficult to get a real feel because everything seems very good first time, till you start paying attention... I mean I couldn't tell if there were dust around the equipments or not... if I would go here 2-3 more times I would pay attention to other details... maybe that's why they give you only one day. Anyways, I liked the first impression but that's because I do like the "hard core" gym feeling. I do wish they had more verity on classes like Eos...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI originally wrote a very positive review about Bee Ridge Crunch. I spent my summer in Sarasota and used their facility every day. Great atmosphere, and at the time I thought the employees were very warm and welcoming. However, when I moved out of state and tried cancelling my account, on FOUR accounts I was given false information as to what their cancellation protocol was. I have now paid almost $150 for 3 months at a gym I have not been using and was "told" my account was cancelled. John, who is one of the managers, was the initial person to "cancel" my account and failed to inform me of their 60 day contract warranting them to charge me another 2 months after cancelling. I have paid 5x more for a member ship I used for 3 months with the basic $10 account. My frustration is more so with the staff and their lack of customer service and being trained properly to give correct and accurate information to their members. This excludes the one gentleman I spoke with this morning who pushed my cancellation through and gave me all of the hard facts about their 50 membership policies that no one told me. Again, not just one person, 3 consecutive employees and managers failed to give me the information I ASKED for and I have now been charged 3 extra months for a gym I am not used. Congratulations, you all have made more money off of me NOT using your gym than you did when I was actually there. Please train your employees properly to give members the information they have the RIGHT to know. The inconsistency and lack of professional management is more frustrating than loosing the whatever hundred dollars extra I have been charged. Thank you to the one guy who dealt with my frustrations over the phone...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI thought this was the place to go?!?! In the neighborhood and thought they had the equipment and the 24 access and it seem to meet all my needs. Beyond the obvious difficulties with normal hours and difficulty finding parking or accessing equipment, which one could expect with a place like this after a life of experience not only running my own gym but being in fitness this place needs help with constantly rotating staff and keeping people and providing customer service BAD! These guys get you in the door with the cheap membership and then beat you to death with the upgrades and billing issues. If you have problems they caused they wonāt fix it and none of the employees can fix any issues. Youāll get the song and dance about corporate being the problem, but no one listens. Over nearly 6 months of excessive billing charges and 20-30 visits and phone calls and going all the way up the chain of command to a district manager who was āhandingā 180.00 of charges in one month for a basic membership NOTHING! They donāt communicate with customers about billing issues when thereās problems that they create and donāt do anything to fix it. If you choose a gym pick one that at least cares to have people who know what they are doing and set up your billing right and arenāt looking always to sell you something. It seems to be the only thing this place cares about is selling because they donāt make enough on the basic memberships but they DO NOT CARE about their members. I tried to resolve this issue before getting to the point where had no choice but to cancel mine and my wifeās memberships and move on. Sad ending to something that started out so positive....
