Interesting shop, roughly half the space filled with vinyl, the other half with memorabilia, Americana, novelties, antiques etc., so if you've come here to look through the records, your patient partner has something else to interest them, lol!
Once again, mainly classic rock and pop, well curated, and many other genres represented in smaller sections. I bought a reggae 12" and a disco album, had a look through some stacks of unpriced 45s on the side and pulled a few out after asking what the price was.
The answer was 'you pick and I'll let you know'. This is the absolute worst answer because it means you can't make a buying decision when looking through. Your little pile is going to be run through Discogs or Popsike online and, if you're like me and are looking for stuff you have never seen before, you have no idea what the price is going to be, so you don't buy it. I'm quite reserved and the most negotiation I will do if I have a pile is "What's your best price on these?", which is an all-or nothing kind of gambit.
As it happens, the staff were friendly and the prices very reasonable, but if I'd have known that I would have bought more, possibly a lot more. Sorry, pet hate; post-selection pricing - rant over. This shop is...
Read moreI stopped by Beachside Retro for Record Store Day on 4/20/24. I live in Lake Mary, north of Orlando, which is about an Hour and a half away. A bit of a drive but I’ve heard great things about Beachside Retro, and they did not disappoint. The fantastic staff was instantly attentive, but not overwhelming. A young lady (I apologize that I didn’t catch her name) quickly helped me find exactly the album I was seeking. I then picked up a t-shirt with their store logo on it, bedside as a graphic design I absolutely love their logo! At checkout I was helped by the kindest, friendliest, young lady, named Carly. She was a delight and made my experience at Beachside that much better. I love this shop and will definitely be back! Major bonus points for being in such an awesome little beach town! You can’t help but to smile when you’re at Beachside Retro, or when you’re coming from or...
Read morePassed by here, just over 18 months since my last review. The selection has increased, but so have the prices, and quite significantly. Still lots of unpriced 45s around under the counter, and the guy was a little picky about where I could and could not look. Once again the response when querying the price was 'I'll look 'em up'. That's no good to me. I'm not going to spend hours digging through records to then be told a price that is just too high. Didn't buy a thing, which is...
