It started off as a good experience. Hem on prom dress looked good and slit that was added to the dress. The trouble started when my daughter went and put the dress on and saw sequin strings dangling!! I took the dress back and asked if it can be fixed. She proceeded to say she didn't do it. My main concern was can she fix it in time for the prom in 3 days. She insisted she didn't do it but should be able to get it done by Saturday the day of the prom. She was more concerned about it wasn't her fault instead of trying to find a way to fix it. I left the dress there. I’ve unfortunately had two negative experiences here. First time was a few years ago when I came in and asked Vera about doing alterations on my wedding dress. ‘I don’t do wedding dresses’ was her response. Umm ok, so I found someone else. Fast forward to just a few weeks ago, I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt since she’s close by and I came in and asked about a simple hemming on some pants. She said it could be done in a couple weeks..a couple weeks for a simple hem?! No thanks. I ended up asking my neighbor and it was done the next day. Maybe she needs more staff? Who knows? Vera is excellent! Her sewing is one of the best I have ever experienced- I have lived in NY and London, and NO ONE can beat her expertise. Vera is always very honest with me about what can be done and by when. Vera will not take a job that she feels she won't be able to do her absolute best and that is what you get from her-- the best.
