I usually go to Savoy 16, but have had back to back bad experiences. The first was when the curtains in the movie I was watching did not fully retract, I let someone know and they said they would tell the manager. Never heard anything and the curtains remained stuck, I had to go out again to get them corrected, the manager at the time, seemed almost annoyed that the young girl who assisted me was making an attempt to explain the situation again. I explained and they offered a guest pass for the movie since it was cutoff on the sides. Which was fine, although the interaction felt unprofessional to me, in part because of the immediate dismissal of the other employee attempting an explanation. Later during the showing someone came in after adjusting the camera depth in the booth, which left the movie both slightly projected on the curtains and letterboxed at the top and bottom. This was a worse choice and left the film even slightly out of focus.
The second issue is due to the fact that they shut down the concession early, they have movies playing late into the night and you can no longer get concessions. The explanation given at the time was that they would be working until 1am if they didn't shut down the concessions... however, the movies continue to play until 1am, so there must be someone present. Even worse still I indicated I had an ICEE and Popcorn they said if I had a the cup for my ICEE or popcorn I could get a refill, so I went back to the theater to retrieve my cup, upon arrival they said I couldn't get a refill of the ICEE after telling me I could. Additionally they decided to call over security as I was speaking to them, making me feel like a hostile entity, when I was simply frustrated over the hoops they had me jump through only to not follow through on what they told me they could do.
Last issue, If you appear you need assistance with something (lets say you need a replacement straw from concessions but have already moved beyond the ticket stub location and there are none available) it is unlikely you will get any assistance even when they can literally see you waving at them. I had to turn to the large group of employees seemingly doing nothing sitting at the desk behind the stub location and engage them, which felt odd, they could easily see me trying to get assistance and did nothing until I approached them directly. Patron engagement is low and it does nothing to ensure the facility is moving fluidly.
The only real redeemable service offered here is the popcorn bucket with cheaper cost. Beyond that, its rarely worth it to go here compared to...
Read moreI looked forward to returning to the movies, however my first two visits to Savoy 16 have been disappointing, to say the least. Both times, the films were dark in day scenes and practically blacked out in night scenes. Both times my assessment of the films was confirmed by staff. The first time I brought it to a managers attention, she said there had been many complaints. She offered me a pass for a future visit, and I went on my way, putting the matter into the "stuff happens" pile. The second visit (to a different film) I requested a manager three times before getting one, who proceeded to blame Disney for the poor quality of the film! We had words and I asked for my money back. She agreed, then more words exchanged, so she reneged on the refund, then asked me to leave and threatened to call the police if I didn't comply! This led to more words (no profanity) but a lot of pointing, shouting and threats from her. This drew the attention of some onlookers who became compelled to support me, but to no avail. The manager started screaming at them, so one of them gave me her number as witness if police were called and left. The manager refused to give me her name, and it should be noted that several people were waiting for her at the desk to make the same complaint, but they gave up before she finally arrived. Here's the deal...I'm a retired baby-boomer who believes I should receive a quality product for hard earned cash (regardless of the amount) and I won't apologize for that. I think of it as a form of theft, not to mention the disrespect and embarrassment from this manager. I am writing because of the seriousness of this incident (police threats, really?) and so the manger can be retrained. No future customer should have to accept an inferior product then get verbally abused by...
Read moreMy experience at this theater has been phenomenal, not only from an employee standpoint but as a customer as well.
1st, Managers: All of the managers are extremely nice and understanding of their employees needs, as well as customer needs. 5 out of 5 stars for the management team.
2nd, Employees: My coworkers are by far the nicest people I’ve ever met. They make me feel like I’m needed at the workplace, and they’re extremely supportive. I love my coworkers and I couldn’t ask for a better team to work with. All the employees are very nice to the customers, and as far as I know, everyone tries their hardest to make the customers feel happy and fulfilled with anything they need.
3rd, Pricing: Although concessions can be a little costly, it’s 100% worth it to buy. We have premium movie theater popcorn that tastes delicious, along with amazing hot food items including pizza, boneless chicken, and even quesadillas that taste great. Movie ticket prices are reasonable, with prices ranging from $9 to $11.25, and currently on Tuesday’s, we are selling $5 dollar tickets, except for IMAX and the reclining premium theater.
4th, IMAX and the Premium Theater:
The IMAX is one of the best movie experiences you can have, with amazing audio, that will blow you out of your seat (yes, it’s supposed to be loud) and amazing stunning visuals on the biggest screen we have. Although the IMAX does cost more than a standard ticket, it’s 100% worth it to try it out at least once. You won’t be disappointed. The premium theater is the best theater we have (in my opinion) it has reclining seats (who doesn’t like that!) so you can experience the maximum amount of comfort while watching your movie!
Best theater in town, compared to AMC. We blow them out...
