Mima Create & Play — Local services in Sayreville

Update 2/7/17. After filing a dispute with the credit card company, and leaving a 1-star review, I received a call from the owner stating that I would be reimbursed for the $100. I have since received the refund and in turn, am changing my review to 4 stars. I am glad to see MiMa handle the situation as it should be.

We were originally very excited to have our daughter's second birthday party at MiMa create and play. However, their bait and switch tactic totally lost our faith in the business. Now we will no longer take our daughter there, nor recommend it to others. A similar business opened closer to us, in Morganville, and they are up front with their policies and prices. So we plan on having our daughter's third birthday party there.

Here is what happened. We placed a $100 deposit months before the party. As we worked on the details of the party, on our side, we wondered when MC&P would reach out to us to finalize things. So two weeks before the party I called, and the person who picked up wrote down our color scheme. She then said the owner would call the next day with questions. That never happened.

A week later we called again and was told that someone would be calling to finalize everything the Thursday before the party (which was that Saturday). That Wednesday we received a call. That is when we were told that if we wanted the party to be private that it's an extra $100.

Mind you, we are paying $450 plus tax for the party and was never informed of this extra charge. We already had invitations sent out, and the chance of the date being available at the new place in Morganville was slim. So we had no choice but to pay $100.

Who offers a party package and not make it private? That makes no sense!

Also, the package we paid for came with printed invitations, but we were never offered them.

The party itself was ok, and the staff was nice. However, they did not do a good job getting the kids involved with the games. And 2 of the three games they played were for older kids when the majority of the kids at the party were under the age of 5.

As I said earlier, I wouldn't recommend MC&P for parties, and now I wouldn't recommend it just for open play. Why? Because they didn't notify anyone via their website that open play was closed for a private party. They only posted it on Facebook. So they wound up kicking people out and turning people away. And they didn't offer discounted open play for those who stayed for the hour before the party. That's...

Absolutely amazing place with a very welcoming and friendly owner! I bring my 1 year old son here on almost a daily basis. It is truly our home away from home.

Everything about Mima is spectacular. It’s the cleanest place we have ever been to. You can tell that the owner and staff take much pride in the cleanly environment they created for the children. They are always visible and available. We love the family-like atmosphere that we walk into...My son is always greeted on a first name basis and often times they will come into the play area to say hello and hang out with him.

We are so thankful for stumbling upon this place!

I have been bringing my son here since he was 5 months old and I love how he grows with the place. There’s so much to do for a variety of ages. As he gets older, he gains interest for new things there. As a 5 month old, he would work on tummy time in the matted area while playing with the creative busy board. As he got older, he was able to do more in different areas of the indoor playground. They have toys to assist with walking and aid in motor development. Because of Mima, my son was able to walk at a very early age. As a walker, he is now into climbing their imaginative soft blocks, riding their indoor bikes, swinging, playing with their train set, enjoying their air pogo stick and many many more activities. Before I know it, he will be mastering their rock climbing wall, utilizing the paint room and mini ninja warrior course!

Overall, I can’t rant and rave enough about this place. This place is gem and there is nothing like it out there. Thank you, Mima for being our home...

Yesterday we had my sons first birthday at Mima’s and it would not have been more of a flawless experience.

I called to set up the party- one of the staff members got details of the kind of party we wanted to have. I later got a call from the owner, who went more into detail of my needs and made accommodations with the package that I wanted. She didn’t try to sell me on things I didn’t want or need.

The day of: I went early in the day to give some extra things I wanted in gift bags and decorations. When I got there, everything was set up so perfect. It was EXACTLY what I wanted. I gave them a concept and the execution was flawless. They didn’t need to use anything I bought.

The staff that was there to help host were so great with the kids- they engaged them in different games. The owner was there helping the girls and getting the parents involved. We had the BEST time and all of the parents loved Mima’s and thought the party was perfect. Thank you ladies so much for such an easy and very fun day.
