La Rosetta Cafe — Restaurant in Sayreville

If I can give no stars I absolutely would. I am incredibly disappointed with the food from this restaurant. It was our first time ordering and i will not be ordering again. Don’t bother using the Slice App to order from here. They don’t read the instructions. They got all those items with notes wrong. My kids ended up not eating their meals because it wasn’t prepared the way I had asked for. I ordered an item and they didn’t have any more so they substituted with another item without asking. This person was aggravated that the meal was incorrect. The meat sauce looks like wet canned dog food. It’s too dry. The meat also looked like they didn’t drain the oil/fat after cooking. It was all settled under the pasta. I ended up adding my own sauce from home to fix this meal so it wasn’t another meal wasted. The meat tastes gross. Most of it ended up wasted anyway.

Upon calling the restaurant to report their mistakes, the owner spoke professionally and did offer to make it again and redeliver. Which would be fine but he said it could take another 30 mins from when the driver returned. We already waited over an hour for our food. It’s getting late and my kids will need to get ready for bed by the time that food arrives. He offered a credit for a future order but I declined and asked for a refund as I do not plan on ordering from La Rosetta ever again. Over charged. Not to mention the middle of the grandma pie had a puddle of oil and water! I called to ask why I was charged $43.04 for a cheese pizza and a grandma pie that I picked up. This is my usual order and last week with delivery and tip it came to $40. The manager told me that plain pizza is $16 and grandma pies are $23. I told him what it says on their website and that I ordered with delivery last week and that's not accurate. He told me he would change the prices on the site. La Rosetta Cafe is very casual and in a strip mall....but don't let this fool you! The food is as close to fine dining if not better then most of the Italian restaurants in the area.....maybe even out of the area! The chef is professionally trained presenting great palate pleasing taste along with pleasant meal presentation. I had the stuff pork chop special and came nowhere near finishing it...... and don't miss on trying the balsamic glaced calamari! Both were off the charts! The large portions, courteous staff, nice decor, and great prices make this establishment a gem! Please don't miss out on this...
