Schaumburg Septemberfest — Local services in Schaumburg Township

Huge sprawling fest, very well run and organized. Enjoyed it! Compared to other fests, the food and drink options are superior and impressive in number, quality, and variety. There are plenty of tents and seats and tables to eat at. Carnival area has many rides and games. People are very chill, and the number of craft vendors is also impressive. The surrounding park has plenty of room to relax, so it does not feel overcrowded. Great for families. Music acts are “good.” A fest this large probably could book well-known acts, and I wonder why they don’t. The bands are quality though, even if of cover and c-level notoriety. They could also have the main stage working all day instead of just a couple evening acts, and maybe add a third, small stage. These are just suggestions, and I feel the park district already does a great job with this fest. I’d just like to see it shift a little more toward being a “music fest”. To note: I can’t imagine the surrounding neighborhood likes having this many people in its midst, as evidenced by some sassy neighbors when we were parking 😆. Not to blame them, as I’d go on vacation for this week if I lived there. But it truly is one of the better, well run fests in the state, and the musical acts are not the primary reason most people attend it. It’s free to enter and family friendly, but honestly I’d gladly pay a fee if the music were better, similar to the way Naperville Ribfest used to book big name acts. I'm very sad to give such a low rating. This year it was earned.

Police did nothing to keep paths clear. Someone with a walker couldn't get through and asked an officer for help. He was basically told he was on his own.

The entire area in front of the stage was blocked off and there was a $7 charge just to enter (people still had to bring their own blanket or chair).

The sound/spotlight tower is placed center and blocks the stage for a large area of the grounds. One of the performers asked for the spots to be turned off so she could see the crowd and they just ignored her.

Vendor advertising is everywhere. What is supposed to be a village family event seems to be run as a business. As a village taxpayer, I appreciate controlling costs, but, if there is so much focus on cost, why not just turn the whole thing over to a private...

Please explain to me how any of this makes sense? Tired to figure out for my son how much pricing was at September fest this is what comes up on your info website. It’s bad enough carnivals are SOOOO expensive but now you are also charging for a card to load money on you and BS price guide’s that tell you nothing. The village of Schaumburg has plenty of money and yet it’s not enough you have to gouge your residents even more. How sad and pathetic are you. Before anyone say’s Schaumburg doesn’t pick the prices the carnival does. Then maybe you should do a better job of screening your vendor partners.
