Generally I like Home Depot. It’s a heck of a lot better than Lowe’s anyway. But I’ve had some mixed experiences at this location. I ordered a pile of Hardie Plank Siding and through some mixup, ended up with the wrong kind. I’d been given some incorrect info by the folks at the pro desk about shipping time and the woman putting in the order entered the wrong info. When I later asked to have it corrected, I spoke to a woman from the pro desk who was really rude and totally unhelpful - she told me that no one at Home Depot had made any kind of mistake on my order, which is completely untrue - my order had in fact been entered incorrectly. She wouldn’t acknowledge any fault on the part of the folks at the pro desk. Eventually she sent me to the manager, who was sort of nice, and offered to fix the problem, but with a 6-week turnaround. Then he grudgingly offered me some gallons of primer to make up for the mistake, but he disappeared and never actually gave me the primer. Through all of this, no one acknowledged any responsibility or fault or mistake nor did they apologize. I made a mistake in the order as well but I owned it like an adult and apologized for my part in the mixup. The people at Home Depot categorically refused to acknowledge their multiple errors or even to behave with a decent attitude about it. More than anything they seemed personally offended at the notion that anyone would think they could make a mistake.
Similarly, I bought a saw and left it at the desk by accident. When I went back to get it, the woman at the self-checkout area was just like, “I dunno. I don’t see it.” So I left and called back later. I got another woman (I think it was the mean one from the pro desk) who also said, “beats me. If I don’t see it here, there’s really nothing I can do for you.” So I called a little later and got a very nice manager who was like, “yup. I have it right here in the pile of products that people accidentally leave behind at the registers. Drop by any time.” And there it was. With my name on it. Now that wasn’t that hard, was it? Also, just once I’d like to ask a customer service rep for something there and not have them repeat the name of the item back to me in the most incredulous, confused voice. “Hi could you point me to paint sprayers?” “PAINT SPRAYERS?!?” “Yes, paint sprayers.” “Could you point me to drills?” “DRILLS?!??!?” “Yes, drills.” “Could you point me toward insulation?” “INSULATION???!?!??!??”
And so on.
Customer service really is not that difficult. I’ve done...
Read moreI’ve never been so disappointed by a store that what I was yesterday. On the 9th of this month March I pretty much had to chase someone down so I could buy a John Deere E180 riding mower. Nothing wrong with my 15 year old mower we just felt a new one with a 54 inch deck would be great. After about an hour we finally had someone help us, we bought it and trailered it home. We didn’t use it until the next weekend. My son was the firs one to use it and when he engaged the PTO the deck belt flew off... I reinstalled it with help from google and the not so helpful manual but not a big deal. Got her going, but there was a bad vibration, not even my old one shook that much. So I checked and one of the 3 blades was bent and making contact with the deck. I’ve delt with bent blades before on my old one from hitting stumps so I removed the blade and straightened it on my vice. Still shaking but we were able to cut our lawn. Yesterday, Saturday morning was a great day to cut grass, so I stated up the mower and drove it to my lawn engaged the PTO and the belt snapped in half... I called Home Depot the young girl that answered had me explain what was going on so I explained with detail, she said, ok let me connect you with our manager I’ll explain to him your issue, I said ok thank you. Waited for half a second and was greeted my Department Manager James who was not explained my issue so here I go repeating myself to James. After I repeated my self James pretends he cannot hear me speaking hello repeatedly into his phone. Then hangs up on me. So I called again. Same story. So I did the most logical thing I could do I came to the store, Once at the store, I go to the return desk to the same young lady I spoke to on the phone, nice girl she called the manager over and was aware of the situation. Assistant to Department Manager tried to be slick by sneaking up on my wife and I, Church on his tag, tried to intimidate us by and almost funny how loud he yelled Sir, like he was going to hold a flashlight to my eyes and ask me if I’ve been drinking. The conversation with this guy was not at all professional, it make me wonder how this store has been open for so long when they keep hiring people who have no clue how to treat customers. He told me his hands are tied and for me to call corporate or take my problems to John Deere. That enfuriated me because I just sold my old working mower for very cheap and now I have a brand new shiny 2 hours on the meter 3000 dollar...
Read moreMy aunt tried to purchase 2 new toilets from this location and we came around 7:30pm (they close at 10pm) and they told us we would have to order them online in order to have them taken down the top shelf. We received ugly attitudes from who seemed to be the manager and when we asked for help for other purchases we tried to make, they would give more attitude and seem very uninterested in what we needed. We ended up receiving no help. So we ordered them online and the next week we came to pick them up. Well to our surprise (and theirs) “someone read the order wrong” and we only had one toilet to pick up along with our other purchases (4 ladders) as we tried to figure out what to do next, we asked if we could try to put the ladders on the vehicle and they continued to tell us no that if they didn’t fit they wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. (Our concern was just trying to fit them and if they didn’t fit we’d bring the truck.) but the attitude and eye rolls and the LITERAL WALKING AWAY while we were talking to them was beyond unprofessional. Every time we come to this place the attitudes are terrible. We were waiting for over an hour for them to “find” our other toilet so we asked another employee what was going on and they looked at the one toilet we had and said “isn’t that your toilet?” We said yes but we’re waiting on one more, she continued to look at us with no idea what to say and said “ok” and turned to help another customer. Finally after watching everyone walk around and look at each other this nice gentlemen came to us and asked if we needed any help, we told him our situation and not even 5 minutes later the toilet was brought to us. So I do not recommend this Home Depot unless it’s your last resort. They are...
