Food Lion — Local services in Seven Lakes

I went today with two small children both are under the age of five well behaved but it's still a lot for one person while trying to remember everything for your household. We spent an hour and a half in the store shopping. When we got to the cash register and unload at the groceries totaling over $400 worth of stuff. I I had a WIC card and a EBT card along with my debit card. When I try to use my cards I was told that I would not be able to use the PIN and that I could just bypass it. With the WIC cards you are not able to use them unless you have the pin and and when I told the cashier this she told me that the machines would not accept any pins and that they were down and that we'd have to pay with credit. I do not own a credit card and the manager came over and instead of apologizing says she made several announcements on the loudspeaker which I never heard what wouldn't it have been more beneficial to say it at the cash register before I unloaded all my groceries I was not able to purchase anything and just walked out because I was so frustrated after shopping with two young children for over an hour. In flyer buy ham get mayo free. Well they did not have the mayo. Assistant manager said we don't give rain checks and We don't print the ads! I said but you work for foodlion and that is false advertising. She went on to blame covid the hoax. I said I want to speak to another manager. A male came said we don't write rain checks but you can have it when you come back. He went on to get me another size mayo. He solved my issue. The first manger had a negative attitude and immediately set me into defend mode. Some people are in the wrong job. If you don't like people work somewhere else! I left happy with results. But it was all unnecessary. I don't care about the free mayo but I do care about the person that only has $6 to feed their family tonight! Some people it could mean alot too! Those are the people I fight for! Somebody has to stand up to people being taken...

Dear Food Lion management, why do your employees not know how to bag groceries? Why don’t they know that eggs do not go in the bottom of the bag. Potato chips should be the last thing to go in the bag. Produce is fragile, protect it. I’m sure this is a skill but your cashiers should possess this skill. I hesitated to write a review but dang, I spend thousands of dollars at your store every year. I deserve better. We as a community deserve better. This is not asking a lot. It’s time people stop settling for mediocrity. We as Americans are better than this. I know it’s just groceries but if we settle for squished bread and broken eggs, what’s next? If we keep conforming to whatever is dished out to us then we deserve what we get. Let’s change things. Starting with properly bagged groceries....
