If you’re considering A+ heating and air! Do not walk away from this place - RUN. The AC in our upstairs stopped working in late fall of 2023. We called A+ to do a service call and they came with a salesman in tow before even looking at the unit. We spent thousands on a brand new system. They did not calculate the unit properly and we were told at the install that our duct work was perfectly fine and did not need to be replaced. A second return being added was not suggested or mentioned at all. Despite it being late fall, it was still hot enough for us to know something was off immediately. The humidity upstairs was staying between 75-95% constantly. I was put off multiple times by various men who tried to tell me I simply lived in the south and it was just “extra hot and humid” here but the system was doing its job. Within several months it was unbearable upstairs. The prolonged humidity created black mold all over the walls of my children’s bedroom. Our clothes stayed damp in closets, sleeping was miserable and even our carpet began to feel damp. Months after alerting them to the problems a tech was finally sent out and “claimed” a panel of insulation had fallen on top of the blower and that was the cause of the extreme humidity. They “reattached” the insulation but it DID NOT change the humidity at all. Fast forward to more months of multiple calls, another service call, and an annual maintenance check only for them to keep assuring me it was normal for a AC unit to keep 75-95% humidity around the clock. We spent an insane amount of money, time and energy to remove the mold from our home. It has now returned during our second summer with the unit as it averages around 90% humidity almost around the clock! I became irate in the last two months and demanded action be taken. I finally got someone to acknowledge that this was not a normal level of humidity for a home to exist in. A head tech Lionel was sent out to assess the issue and he promptly told us that due to the size of unit a second return should have been installed when it was put in. In his own words it was a mistake of the installers not to add an additional return and the lack of proper air flow and sufficient return created the excessive humidity. Despite this, I was still put off multiple times with various managers dragging their feet unable to tell me a return would be added at no cost to us until last week, nearly a MONTH after my most recent calls! The mold has returned to our upstairs and I am so beaten down by this entire situation, the risk to our health and the uncertainty of the extreme wear and tear placed on the unit for a year and half of improper function!! We were finally graced with an answer last week that a return would be added at no cost to us. How sweet of them right? Return has been added, no change in humidity. We are about to spend thousands more dollars to add our own dehumidifier to the unit, rip up all of the carpet and have LVP put down, and hire a professional mold removing...
Read moreMy AC died at my home on Oak Island in June 2024. I had been using A+ to maintain the system, so I asked them to come quote a new system. They only sell Lennox (a brand I like), and the sales rep (Lucas Wright) quoted me a 3-ton system to fit my home. Then he called back the next day to ask if he could return with his GM to confirm the system size, and they decided that I needed a larger 4-ton system. I agreed and they scheduled the install in July. They came and installed the whole system (condenser, air handler, line set, thermostat), and then called again the next day to admit that they installed the WRONG system - they installed the 3-ton system from his initial quote due to a paperwork SNAFU. They came back a week later at the end of July and pulled out all that new equipment to install the larger 4-ton system. I wish that was the end of the pain. The system was quoted including a $625 rebate from Lennox and Lucas said he would handle all the paperwork. At least 6 weeks passed after the install(s), but he was not returning my calls or texts, and my rebate was not submitted. I went to Lennox directly to submit the rebate, but I needed a receipt for my 4-ton system. The receipt I had was for the 3-ton system and its serial numbers. They changed it by hand to add the corrected data, but the date was still the initial install date, so the receipt looked pretty janky. Lennox said they needed someone from A+ to log into their system to confirm everything before I would get my rebate. Lucas said he would handle it, but then another 3 weeks passed. I texted him and called him but no response. I called A+ and left at least 4 messages for his manager (Andy) but he never returned any of my calls. Eventually, (October) I called Lennox and spoke to a supervisor and explained that I could not get anyone from this firm to engage with me. They escalated the rebate internally and although the rebate had expired by this point, they issued the rebate based on what I had submitted - and I finally received it at the end of October. This company maintained my system for several years without an issue, and the (second) system they installed is working well, but they were unable or unwilling to do what they promised around the rebate they offered, and it cost me many hours of personal time and frustration trying to work with Lennox due to their lack of response and refusal to do what was promised.
EDIT: The “owner” of A+ replied below and asked me to call “the management team” so they could address my concerns. My complaints in the review were primarily that I had called the team many times, and no one ever returned my calls. So I will not call you again. I bought a $20K system from you in July 2024, and you still have a stack of unreturned phone messages from me on your desks. You know who I am, why I’m upset, and how...
