This is the second time I've visited Janet's Antiques, both unpleasant (and memorable--but for the wrong reasons) experiences. Here is what happened today. When I arrived, an angry-appearing dog was barking at the entrance. Another woman explained she wanted to wait to enter so the dog would not run away. The "owner" later appeared from around the corner of the building with another dog. The three of us, plus one dog, entered together. Both dogs were unruly. The owner did not greet me, but instead spent the next 23 minutes talking with the other woman, whom she clearly knew. I was never acknowledged. The dogs ran around, barked at me, upset the bag with china I was carrying, and then one ran after the other growling and barking menacingly. I waited. I waited some more. The dogs hovered around me and sniffed--and basically made me feel very uncomfortable. I decided to leave, and when I was steps from the exit, the owner asked meekly "Can I help you?" By this time, no, she could not help me. I could not wait to get out the door. Several others have posted negative comments about this establishment. I agree. Never again. Either the owner(s) have so much money they don't need to care about customer service, or they simply have no idea what customer service is. Zero stars would have been...
Read moreReading many reviews before arriving to this shop, I expected a horrible experience with a rude owner and big, scary dogs; however, I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by Janet and her dog Lily. Did Lily bark at me? Yes. Was she just excited to meet someone new? Also yes. People have put out reviews for this shop stating that this dog was horrible, but Lily was very kind and leaves you alone after she sniffs you for a moment. Janet is very knowledgable about every item in the shop, as proven by the sticky notes on each item. Dates and important information are labeled on the sticky note, along with pricing. Why is each cabinet $500+? You're buying actual quality furniture that is dated 100 years old or more. You could get a large cabinet somewhere else with large scratches and gouges, or you could go to Janet's and get it for $600 but in great condition. Janet was also very quick to tell me information about anything I had questions on. You're paying for quality and her knowledge. We all need to remember that quality antiques don't just sell for Facebook Marketplace pricing. This is quality stuff.
Thank you for the wonderful experience,...
Read moreWorst place I have ever visted. When my girlfriend and I opened the door two dogs ran up barking extremely loudly growling at us. We both felt totally threatened and just froze. For a moment I was almost certain one of them was going to jump up and bite my girlfriend. The dogs calmed down after a moment thankfully. Then we noticed the owners did nothing and barely acknowledged us. We should have complained and left right there and then....but we went in and looked around. I suppose we could have just walked out with something and would have never been noticed. Because that's how much attention we received from them. I highly recommend never going there as they are not worth your...
