I had a terrible experience in this restaurant! Here is the story. Well, we know this is a Chinese restaurant, also my boyfriend and I are both Chinese, so we'd like to try some Chinese original tastes here. Although we're living in Madison for over 3 years and both can speak fluent English, we asked for if they have the Chinese menu because some names of the dishes may be more familiar for us in Chinese than English. We were very polite and asked in English "do you have any Chinese menu?" The staff said no, that's acceptable, however, she also said "Here is America, you both should say English rather than still using Chinese." I was a little bit astonished because I've heard she talking to the kitchen staff in Chinese before we ordered. You have no right to limit what language your customers speak, let alone that you are Chinese, too. After the unpleasant ordering, we experienced another awful service - they gave us the wrong dish. We've ordered the Xiaolongbao, but they gave us the wrong item. When I told the staff please to change it to the correct order, she yelled at me "this is the thing you ordered!" I mean, it is ridiculous, we are Chinese and Xiaolongbao is exactly the Chinese pinyin, we could not pronounce it wrong or made it sounds like other things. I tried to explain that I'm sure we ordered it correctly. However, the staff answered impatiently "Okay, I can change it as Xiaolongbao, but you should pay the same price again." I was like, what did you say? why I should pay for it again? I've paid for the dish before and you gave me the wrong thing, that's your responsibility not me. On that day, my boyfriend and I got so mad and we did not want our Xiaolongbao anymore (they didn't change it for us later or they actually didn't want) and did not want to argue anything more with them, we just chose to leave. Idk if this happened just because we are Chinese. If this is the reason why it really hurts. Because this is a Chinese restaurant and the owner is Chinese too, we are having the same nationality but why you treat Chinese people with so much bias?
I'll also write it again in Chinese to let more people read conveniently.

Read moreI was disappointed by the service, environment, and food from this restaurant.
I took my friend here for a weekend lunch. We both ordered soup, grabbed a table, and to our surprise both soups were delivered in to-go cups with lids. I told the waitress we are eating for here and would like bowls. She curtly responded you can eat from the to-go cup, and returned to the kitchen.
It was unpleasant to eat hot soup from a tall cup. I had to use my chopsticks to fish for the noodles at the bottom, and it was near impossible to scoop up broth with the regular plastic spoon they provided. I had to drink the broth from the to-go cup like a beer. Not ideal.
This put a damper on my lunch with my friend. It was awkward, difficult to hold conversation, and I felt he wanted to leave as fast as possible. I regret not having gone to Bar Taco or any other restaurant at Hilldale, especially considering our two soups cost just shy of $30. That’s about the same price at other places with servers and proper plates/bowls.
Also, the flavor of the soup was nice, but it was too salty. And they didn’t provide water.
To owner: I understand we are still in covid times, but please announce clearly that your restaurant serves to-go only. Either way, I likely will not return soon, nor would I recommend...
