Amazing amazing place!! The 12 year old in our family has wanted to get her ears pierced for quite a while now and we decided to make an appointment for the Labor Day weekend since she is out of school anyway. We went in planning to get pierced with the needle since we heard from family friends it is more sterile, but the wonderful staff there explained the difference between their handheld device (NOT A GUN, the one they use is not spring loaded so it is safer and gentler on the ears) and the needle. We decided to actually go with the device since the needle took longer and was not necessary for the lobe piercing. The nurse doing her piercing was Amanda and she was BEYOND brilliant. She immediately struck up some small talk and eased us into the whole experience by making both me and my kid feel very comfortable. She explained everything she was doing, pierced each ear separately, and made sure to confirm that my kid was completely ready before piercing. She also walked us through the aftercare process very clearly and explained how to take care of everything during the healing process. We also purchased the cleaning solution and though it was maybe a little overpriced ($20 for one small bottle) I'd say it was probably worth it, seeing as the piercing was done by a licensed nurse and all. Also, my kid was super super nervous leading up to the piercing and she almost didn't go through with it, but she said afterwards that Amanda and the general environment of the place made her feel confident enough to do it. I took my daughter here to get her first piercing. She is so nervous around needles or anything unknown/that could cause her pain, but she has wanted this for over a year so we came to just walk around the store and look at earrings. She knew there was no pressure to get them pierced today. The second we walked in, the person who greeted us was so comforting and explained everything to her. She let my daughter ask questions and she was so encouraging. Then our nurse, Amanda, was BEYOND patient and kind!! She walked my kiddo through every step and promised her that she was in charge. She even let her play with the machine some before it was loaded and held it up to her ears without any earring in it, so she could see what it would feel like. We got the machine up to her ear to get ready to pierce multiple times and my daughter asked her to stop. She did and then continued to remind her of how brave she was for just getting that far and getting in the chair. We had to take a break for a pep talk while a couple other people got pierced, but then she got right back in the chair and was able to do it! I am a chef in madison wi. Took my daughter here to get her first ear piercings. She's going on 9 and, as she will tell you, has been asking for 3 years. We walked into a room filled with powerful and supportive women, all there to support a friend/ family member. As a single dad, it can be hard to do these things, but the support shown to my little one by these lovely ladies made the entire experience much easier. They even stayed after their friend was done to cheer and support my daughter through this process. She handled like a champ, in no short thanks to NICOLE. I will be the first to say the professionalism and care she showed was nothing short of a blessing. These folks at rowen hilldale should be praised at the highest level for how they operate and provide great care/ service to their patrons.
