Forage Kitchen — Restaurant in Madison

This was my first time trying Forage. The food was pretty good despite a couple of minor mistakes with prep. I ordered the chicken add on and they did pulled pork instead (it was good, just not what I ordered). I submitted my order online and it gave me a pickup time for 35 minutes later. This seemed a little long, but I figured they might be shorter staffed and have a lot of carryouts at dinner time. I picked up at the time allotted and the pork was lukewarm, clearly it had been put together at least 15-20 min prior to the pickup time. I have no problem with waiting, but if it isn’t going to take as long as anticipated, it would be better for the kitchen staff to hold off on prepping the order until closer to the designated pickup time.

Lastly, I can’t penalize Forage for this part, but IMO the food quality was very similar to a burrito bowl from Qdoba - and that is not a bad thing as I love Qdoba - but it costs about $5-7 more.

Overall, I am definitely trying to do my part to support local restaurants during this time, and I am being understanding about minor things, but for fast-causal food that is slightly on the pricy side (for what you’re getting) I don’t think its asking much to tighten things up a bit if they want...

I’ve eaten here several times over the years, as I live close by. It’s been a while since my last visit, and had a craving tonight, so ordered pick up. When I got home & sat down to eat, I was incredibly disappointed in the quantity of food I received (and I added—and paid for—additional ingredients). My bowls have always been filled to the top, usually past the top and into the extended lid space, and this time the bowl was barely 2/3 full. I understand increasing prices if they need to cover increased costs on their end (facility, wages, ingredients, etc.), but don’t give less food when your longtime customers expect what they’ve consistently gotten in the past. That said, it was delicious as expected, but not filling enough.

Update: After responding to a survey they emailed me, the manager did refund the full price of my meal. So I will give them another chance in the coming months and update my review if I have a...

Why did the Hilldale location change the Power Bowl? The wonderfully chewy black rice is essential to the combination! I ordered a Power Bowl to be delivered, as I've done for years with the State Street location, and didn't get a Power Bowl, but instead something with pink rice????

Is this a cost-saving measure to default to a different combination? Yes, I know customers can modify, but you changed the basic, easy, just order and get the good stuff combination! What else is this location doing cost-saving on that will make for a lower quality product ongoing? Please don't ruin the perfect Forage Kitchen!!! I want to give this location 5 stars, just like State Street. People on the west side deserve...
