I avoided reviewing this dispensary until I had been there a few times and could be 100% in my review . Having lived and or visited several recreational legal states and dispensaries sadly this is probably the worst dispensary I have been to .
You have to place your order online or in a kiosk inside the dispensary . Prices or THC content is not visible on many products in their online “store” so it’s best if you really want a particular strain , make sure you double check this info when at the counter or you could be going home with some very low THC product .
Their points system / rewards system is probably the worst I have ran across but with no competition within a reasonable distance . Their app altho I’m told is or has been redone - I haven’t been able to access it so I am always having to ask my points in store , asking the “bud tenders” anything about it will be met with a “I don’t know what to tell you”
I stopped trying to ask questions about products after a few visits because “oh yea it’s fire” just doesn’t reflect a knowledgeable staff and you are felt rushed to get in and out (it’s worse than a line etc at a pharmacy ) . If you are looking for information on terpenes, strains that work better for pain etc etc you aren’t going to get it here remotely .
When arriving don’t be surprised to see children in the parking lot being left in cars , I was even asked by a kid for a drink because his mom was in the dispensary for awhile . Also don’t be surprised to see girls who barely look of age with their infants in tow in the parking lot and going in and out of the dispensary or waiting in lines . This is something I had to get used to because out of the 2 Dozen or more dispensaries I have been to across the U.S this was never allowed remotely , security usually asked people to leave that brought small children , you were not allowed to have children waiting in cars while their parents could spend 30 minutes inside the dispensary .
Sales and deals are also the worst I’ve seen , my budget has doubled on product because of this and while I don’t expect top tier quality for products on sale , I often cannot find legible or any dates of harvest to really find out how old the sales products are and you pretty much find out when it crumbles to dust once you get home. Concentrates however have been pretty decent along with cartridges .
Pricing for your market - very limited affordable product. considering the average income and age in the area I expected pricing to reflect this sadly it does not but again being they have no real competition but I expected better for a community that has allot of older and disabled members. Having to double my budget
Overall I expected a more friendly home town feel to this dispensary but it’s a very “get in and get out” place for the most part , while some budtenders are friendly it’s still a very rushed environment with little shareable knowledge on the products unless you try and pry it from them before they check you out and even then you have to really look at the source . It’s the only choice locals have which is likely why many attempt to grow their own in the area .
Bonus I do appreciate how if someone needs help ordering while you might have to wait a bit they will send someone out to assist you to put a order in the “kiosk” - you can order more product when at the budtender but I was told they prefer you don’t and go through the kiosk (this is way new to me as no dispensary I have been to has been...
Read moreMaybe it's a personal preference but I like the layout of almost every other cannabis store I've visited better than this place - the location, waiting room and person who greeted me at Consume were convenient and friendly but once I was inside the store there was almost no product on display. Instead of showcasing edibles, flower, carts and accessories there are electronic kiosks that one is encouraged to use which left me with an empty feeling I've never experienced buying cannabis. The place feels sterile to me and lacks any kind of aroma one would associate with this kind of store (again, a personal preference I suppose since it doesn't impact one's ability to actually purchase marijuana.) What little product is visible is all behind the counter where the line queues for online orders so you can't just walk up and admire what's under the glass without holding up the line...My second surprise was when my friend who came with me was told their reward for being a first time customer was a whopping 10% off their purchase - now come on Consume! Every store I've visited in Arizona / California / Colorado rewards first time customers with BOGO of some sort. The best they could do was BOGO on pre-rolls (which was simply their rec special for everyone who walked through the door.) My friend had sticker shock and in hind sight we should have driven up the road to Green Hills for a better first experience. Visit Green Hills in Show Low or JARS in Payson and you'll see what I mean about product on display and overall atmosphere - those are stores I will continue to support because they represent the kind of experience I'm looking for in a retail cannabis store. Just to clarify everyone working there was friendly and helpful (except the stupid kiosk which hiccupped and erased our order.) Machines like are a poor substitute for a bud tender. I hope the store succeeds and wish the employees well but I'll spend my...
Read moreConsume is okay. I hate the "pot culture" quotes all over the walls. For those of us who don't utilize marijuana for recreational purposes, but for medical...its like going into a Pharmacy...but Consume is NO PHARMACY. Not EVERYONE enjoys it and thinks its a grand party or wants or needs the absolute highest THC content. After 2+ years of going there, requesting a certain strain for pain, a certain strain for gut motility, etc., I have rarely been dealt with like Im a patient, but more like a Partier. When I have requested a total Indica, 90% of the time Ive been given a hybrid instead. Unfortunately, the rules don't let you inspect the packaging until you have paid and are out the door...whereupon I have found hybrid after hybrid, which are a waste of my money, since it gives me bad paranoia. I would like it if the bud tenders were more knowledgeable about medical needs or would just listen and get me what I request instead of trying to get me higher or pump up sales. Unfortunately, the competitor to Consume is no longer in business...I miss them. Their tiny shop was crowded, but they listened better and were more solicitous to a Medical card holder. I wish they had one or two bud tenders on site that were more versed on the medical aspects of MMJ. Id wait an hour or make an appointment...
