Update: Big Sky reached out directly to process the cancellation, and also to clarify that CT regulation specifies a 25 mile radius vs Big Sky’s 15, which is generous as it is. Thanks guys, I do wish you’re closer fwiw, will keep an eye out as yall expand your footprint. The catch with this great gym is the cancellation policy…at least a medical condition precluding physical activity or a move outside a 15 mile radius of the nearest location. Otherwise you are locked in for the remainder of the term. Yeah.

I love this place Bridgette the manager is amazing with how she has put this place together and the staff is super friendly right from the start with Jeff signing us up as soon as we walked in the door, the shake bar is amazing and it’s nice to relax after the workout and hang by the bar…… the training with the trainers is top notch and worth every dollar RYAN IS A BEAST!!!!!! Always keeps your workouts fun interesting and no two workouts are ever the same

The gym itself is pretty nice, and the shakes are great. BUT the company that runs their billing has some seriously shady practices. I had a one year contract which was from May 5, 2023 to April 4, 2024(I have to assume this because it isn't listed anywhere in the contract when your contract becomes cancellable). I'm moving, so I attempted to cancel my membership on 4/18/24, and was told that i am "responsible for a 25 day written request" to cancel, which means that not only would I have to pay the following month's gym membership, but I also have to pay the $42.49 annual gym fees for the NEXT year's worth of membership. They're letting me use the facilities until June 4th, which is pointless because I'm moving to Maine on May 17th, which is why I canceled in the first place. I asked for a copy of my agreement, and when I got it the agreement actually said a 30 day request, which is even more ridiculous. Essentially they are forcing you to pay an extra year of fees with this system, as you'd have to cancel the exact day your contract ends to avoid paying annual dues for a year you won't even use the equipment. AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, my $21.22 monthly fee plus the $42.49 annual fee should be $63.71, but I was charged $70.03. Life goes on, but this couldn't have been handled this any worse.

Tl;dr: Gym people...

Good gym if you like classes. Issue for me is limited biking equipment. For example, there are only 4 upright stationary bikes (despite the fact biking has become a very popular sport), and one of them has been broken for 3 weeks now. Most mornings, the 3 working bikes are occupied while there are about 20+ treadmills/ellipticals vacant. I asked the desk manager if they were planning on adding bikes. She said that they were too expensive!, and then suggested that I use one of the spinning bikes downstairs. Two problems with that. First, there was a spinning class in progress, and second, the stationary bikes allow you to set a program, the spinning bikes do not. And, while very friendly, the trainers are all over the gym with clients- so there is no place to stretch. And, last week, while in the middle of a set, one of the trainers asked if I could let one of her clients use the equipment I was using. I felt guilty saying no, but in hindsight, the in-house trainer should respect those of us that do not use their service. Bottom line is, if you don't mind waiting to use the strength equipment, and are not interested in biking, and don't mind crowds- it's OK. Finally, there was a water leakage downstairs weeks ago that was never properly corrected- so the area now has a...
