The only for a one star is because I was not able to go any lower. Have been shopping here at the Sioux City IA and Yankton SD stores for years. In that time frame I have purchased items for four homes. So this was not my first project. I replaced the roof on my home with a metal roof. The nightmare started after I ordered the first batch of metal. I was told the material would be in between 10-14 days. With that in mind I lined up help to do the roof. Well that time frame went and past. It took almost 3 weeks. With no help for another 2 weeks I was stuck. I went out to get the metal when it did arrive and was there for almost 2 hours as they could not find it. The second go around was I order the second batch and received the wrong style of ridge cap. Even though it was the wrong style I still would not have accepted it as it had 2 big dents in it even with being shipped in a wood crete. Another 2 weeks wasted. Third, and was partly my faylt, was when I order the porch roof i told the guy I do not need anything but the metal roofing and flashing. When he totaled up the order I felt it was kind of high. I asked was told it because of the new tariffs. Ok. When I received the order I had everything from the metal to the drip edging and about 5lbs of extra 1" screws. Fourth trip out was for ridge cap for the back of the house. Thus time I took a price of scrap and showed the person which style I need. They pulled it up on the screen and I said yes that is the one I need. I received the text telling me my order was ready. When I get to the store I'm showed my order and it is the wrong style AGAIN not to mention this one is also dented. Delayed 2 more weeks. The fifth time of a Menards plunder was they are not able to find my order when I go to the store for pick up. I waiting game around for the better part of an hour and a half when I finally told the lady here my number call me when you find it. Late afternoon the next day I had not received a call so I called them. The lady that answered was blind sided by my call and no clue what I was talking about. After explaining to her what happened the night prior she stated she would look and call me back. About an hour I received a call from her that they had found my order. I go out after work to pick it up and the ridge cap is leaning up against the block wall with exposed side resting against the wall. As I'm strapping down the ridge cap I look down and see that the face of the ridge cap is scratched all the way across one of the flat areas. They had removed the ridge cap from the wood crete and like I stated sat it against the wall causing it to be damaged. When I spoke with the AGM on duty his response was, "What do you want me to do about it". This will be the LAST time I ever step foot inside a Menards. I will go to Lowe's or Home Depot and purchase my stuff...
Read moreI did speak with store manager and he said he will address the issue and try to make sure it doesn't happen in the future. Add on. TAKE PICTURES OR WRITE DOWN PRICES FOR YOU PURCHASES. Went to Menards to grab a few items, one of which was a Closetmaid 2-door stackable organizer. I noticed right when the receipt printed out that we was overcharged, AGAIN! I Immediately brought it to the cashiers attention but she acted as if she couldn't be bothered and proceeded to start ringing up the next customers items, I asked her so do I have to have customer service take care of this now? She didn't answer, so I had to spend more time to get back the money that Menards tried to steal from me. I don't know if this is just incompetent employees or a bigger issue with the business/s because it just happened another store right before I went to Menards, and another store the evehese businesses are making lots of money off these "mistakes", and it seems to happen more on the sale, and or the holiday items which have an increased number of sales, and lets face the truth these businesses aren't attempting to return the money to people they overcharged. Rushed, followed, poor store brand quality (what good is a warranty if you are guaranteed to have to use it because they knowingly make bad products), cashier said employees following customers is a normal practice, spoke with assistant store manager so they could investigate the issues. Lack of variety. They do have some employees that care about customers and are willing to help. The rebate they constantly run makes their prices about the same as all the other stores, and seriously if your going to run non-stop rebates then just lower your prices 11% instead of making so many people waste paper. The rebate slips and the extra receipt paper and ink are costing you money, then the customer has to use envelopes and stamps, It's wasteful and only costs more money and time for both the business and customer. Read moreI get more upset every time I visit the Sioux City store. This time I went in to return a trimmer that I'd only had for a month but hasn't worked correctly for 3 weeks. After arriving at the customer service desk I was told I needed to remove the last three drops of gas in the tank. I went out and did this and came back in. It was obvious that the girl behind the counter I had no idea what she was doing she was also as pleasant as someone on death row. After someone was called from that department they came up to tell me that I cannot return it because I'd had it more than 7 days. I would have to take it to one of their approved mechanics to have him say it was broken! I asked them why this wasn't posted on my receipt they said it was posted in that department near the trimmers. I then proceeded to ignore most of my list and only buy one item from the store, a ceiling fan. I get this item home and look in a box and find parts missing as a must have been a restock. But nothing was noted on the outside of the box. I spend thousands of dollars at this location through the years I will not spend another dime. I then proceeded to go to home Depot and was served by people who know what they are doing, actually acted like they liked working there, and we're pleasant. I'm so tired of going into the store and being served by grumpy people who don't know what they're doing and don't care if they give decent service. Needless to say avoid the store...
