After researching different furniture manufacturers, I decided to choose the Stickley Furniture Company because of its stellar reputation for high quality furniture that will last a lifetime.
I initially had a phone conversation with John Bagnasco on April 11th to schedule a visit to the store on April 12th. Upon arriving at the Somerville, NJ showroom store, John showed my wife and I the furniture that we were initially interested in, but we spent quite some time looking at several pieces of furniture before making our final decision. John was great about recommending several sizes and or configuration options that would work in our family room. We then were able to decide which furniture pieces to purchase.
At that point, Kelly, the store manager, helped us decide on the final details regarding fabric selection. It was “very" important to us that we select fabrics that had a high grade level, with the durability that would hold up for many years.
Kelly recommended 2 Stickley “performance" fabrics that were grade “E”, one with a Wyzenbeek test rating of 50,000 (rubs) and one with a Wyzenbeek test rating of 90,000 (rubs). So, we feel very confident that the fabric will endure many, many years of use.
Both John and Kelly were quite “intuitive", they asked all the right questions and listened to us to understand what we were looking for during the selection process. However, Kelly went a step further during the fabric selection process to make a recommendation to incorporate leather into the design mix for 2 ottomans and a kidney pillow. This simple, yet “insightful" suggestion will “really” accentuate the overall look of the sofas, ottomans and accent chairs we decided on.
Needless to say, I think anyone reading this review has already come to the conclusion that I “HIGHLY RECOMMEND” the Stickley Furniture Company. Both John and Kelly were simply outstanding! They were incredibly knowledgeable and patient with us as we spent a little more than 4.5 hours in the store.
Also, I want to acknowledge and thank Jennifer, one of the other interior design consultants working at the store. We selected a fabric for the accent chairs that we were unable to find among the hundreds of fabric options offered by Stickley. While we were working with Kelly, Jennifer spent 20-30 minutes relentlessly searching for the specific fabric, so we could know what the grade level and Wyzenbeek test rating was. So, Jennifer, thank you…very much!
In closing, the above Stickley team really hit a home run with us. They were very welcoming upon our arrival, incredibly knowledgeable and helped us with what can be a daunting process. It’s been over 32 years since we last purchased any furniture for our family room, but per the Stickley reputation for quality and longevity, my wife and I are quite confident that these new pieces for our family room will last the rest of our lives!

Given that there are very few furniture stores that sell American made furniture, it's so important to find the right showroom, the right sales person, and the right company that provides not only high quality goods, but most of all, high quality customer service. I've done this when buying a piano, a high end stereo system, a mattress, etc. I bought my last set of American made furniture 24 years ago. It still has many years left in it; however, I've moved to a new place and I want to replace my sofa and loveseat with something smaller and more Mission style. I decided to take a trip up to the Somerville Stickley store. One always wonders what it will be like when you enter the store. It's that first moment when you are going get a good vibe or one where you need to get out of there as fast as you can. I had already been in contact with Kelly D about the space and what I was looking to replace, and with what. Kelly was excellent to work with. She was patient, she understood my needs, she helped me pick out fabrics, etc. She showed me other options. One must also note that customers also need to be patient and understanding. If you've never worked in retail, it's not easy. It can be very tiresome dealing with the many types of personalities that come through the door. I spent about 1.5 hours with her and she never once said - 'shall I write this up.' I told her that I didn't want to make a decision right away as I wanted to think about things and do some remeasuring back home. She did give me a price quote of what I was looking at purchasing. I did keep in touch with her over the next 2 weeks and she was as pleasant as the first day we discussed my options. What I initially went in for - a Stickley sofa bed and a chair, changed to a Stickley 65" regular sofa and Stickley chair. I finally approved the sale today. Read moreI recently acquired a coffee table and end tables in the Mission Style and was looking for an entertainment console to match. I viewed and found what I was looking for on their website and reached out to the store via a message on a Friday asking if it was in stock and a price. Within a few hours I received a response indicating that it was not in stock, could be ordered and was given its price. I was also informed that they were extending their Memorial Day sale (40% off) thru that Sunday. I chose to go to the store the next day (Saturday) and met with Kelly whom I was communicating with and who was extremely helpful. I placed my order for the piece of furniture. However, I was not sure of the wood type after looking at the samples in the store. It was between 2 choices. Kelly suggested that she would hold the order until I got home and sent her pictures of my current furniture. Which I did, and we decided which one of the 2 choices was the correct one.
