HORRID HURRIED HIBACHI EXPERIENCE! Hard Pass for the future! We had a reservation for 5 people, but they were waiting for others to come in to fill the hibachi table before they sat us. The head hostess (ring leader) who appeared to run the circus was the most unpleasant woman I've ever witnessed in the restaurant industry. She was extremely rude and rushed to her staff as well as customers. Salad and Soup was already at our place setting when we were finally seated. We barely had a chance to review the menu before the waiter was wanting to take our order. My husband ordered 4 sushi rolls directly from the menu without any alterations and the waiter came back to our table 3 times to confirm said rolls. The ONLY positive was the hibachi chef Antony who was put on the spot as the waiter forgot one of the steaks someone had ordered. We were not even 1/2 way through with eating our meals and our waiter brought us our checks and threw plastic take out bags and containers in front of us partially on the hot grill - part of the plastic bag melted onto the hibachi grill. We weren't asked if we wanted a drink refill or dessert. My friend and her husband (who had a separate bill than us) asked the waiter why she was charged $4 for noodles as it was included in the hibachi dinner. Turns out the waiter inadvertently charged my side of fried rice onto their bill and simply said,"oh that's theirs". Didn't amend the bills. The head hostess swooped in to gather the payments and I said to her that I've never felt so rushed at a dinner in my life and that we will never be back. She replied and I quote, " I don't care, I'm not the owner." We were in & out of this establishment in less than an hour on a Saturday evening. We have an exchange student who had never experienced hibachi before and were excited to share this with her. When we were exiting the establishment, I approached the Head Hostess in the Foyer at the hostess stand to inquire to speak to a manager. She told me there was not a manager in until later in the evening. On Sunday when the restaurant opened, I called in to speak to a manager or the owner. It sounded like the same Head Hostess from the night before that answered the phone and she told me the owner will not be in until closing time and doesn't speak English -only speaks Mandarin which is fine, because I do have a friend who speaks Mandarin. Apparently there is not any management there or this horrible head hostess is the manager and doesn't want to admit it to avoid providing customer service. We spent over $100 for our family of 3 and left annoyed with indigestion. Spend your hard earned money at Sushi Yokohama right up the street which is normally our FIRST & ONLY choice, but we wanted our Slovakian daughter to see the cooking demo & they don't have the actual grilling done in front of you. Sushi Yokohama's staff is exceptional and their food is...

Have been coming here yearly to celebrate sons birthday with family for many years. Tonight is the last night we will set foot in this facility. Not sure if it is under new ownership or it has just gone downhill but what a disappointment. From the minute we arrived and we’re seated at our table, we were rushed and hawked by the staff. It was a 4:30 reservation and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Staff seemed to have a terrible attitude and immediately before we could even sit down they brought out the soup and salad. We hadn’t even had a chance to sit let alone order drinks yet. We had wine and had to ask for glasses. The two servers hawking our table were so incredibly rude and rushed the entire meal. The chef was very friendly and food mediocre at best. Not like it used to be. We brought two cakes to celebrate two birthdays. One was a homemade ice cream cake which required the freezer and the other a reg chocolate cake. When they brought out the cakes the ice cream cake was completely melted. Clearly it was never put in the freezer. They used to have a disco ball and music and lights when celebrating a birthday and staff would clap and smile and sing along. Instead we had a cake ruined and melted and when the server put it down said here’s your cake cut the cake! When I asked abt the lights and disco ball they said no very firmly. Coffee and or tea was never offered and when I asked if they could please take a coffee order I was quickly shot down and told no they don’t have it. They handed out paper plates and plastic spoons for the cake. The also added 18% gratuity even though families were paying individually. Everyone but the chef were so incredibly rude and everything rushed. Will never set foot in that restaurant again! What a disgrace...

We love hibachi meals that's why we ended up here been there few times , quality of the food is ok not great sometimes these hibachi chefs messup your order when they have too many guests surrounding one table served by just only one chef. It was Sunday, not so busy day as the Fridays or Saturdays went with my kids to enjoy some hibachi dinner at 5pm . No sooner we being sitter the waitress rushed us to order drinks besides requesting her to give us few mins she kept coming every 2 mins asking and forcing us to order drinks. We ordered drinks and then quickly ordered our dinners as we know what we order all the time, being here few times . The waitress was very unfriendly and we were rushed and treated like she's doing a big favor on us taking out order. she seem upset as we ordered two hibachi dinners for me and my wife and sides of shrimps and fried rice for our two kids as they don't eat that much. Later, our dinner was being prepared live by this hibachi chef..the taste/quality have definitely gone downhill as last time our fried rice was salty and this time our fried rice is kinda tasteless . They serve the rice first as we wait for the vegetables and meat/seafood. The fried rice ran cold by the time he served us the main seafood and steak. They should serve the everything in a timely fashion so the rice don't run cold while we wait for the meat or seafood entrees. We liked Somerville and we love hibachi but looks like we might have to look around some other spots as the quality and service is going downhill here at yutaka. Too bad the management is not doing enough to maintain the quality and service they once had. I wish...

Wouldn't come back for the following reasons. The lady in the front is miserable and kills the vibe instantly. Walked in with excitement but after 30 seconds of talking to her, I was already rubbed the wrong way. They need to get rid of her. She clearly does not enjoy being there and has no manners. I regret dropping $100 on a meal since I wasn't treated decently. The chef was very boring and split the portions unevenly. One person gets a pound of rice and the other gets a half portion? I don't understand. All the food is drenched in oyster sauce so as a result the steak, shrimp, and chicken all have the same flavor. Don't get me wrong, the food is good... BUT with the pricing, I was expecting some kind of enthusiasm or a different flavor profile from the food. Lastly, they straight up rush you out. They'll come around and hand you the bill before you're even done eating. Yet, they're nowhere to be found when you need a refill or some help with something. This place gives strange vibes. No one seems happy to be there. Do not recommend. I should've went to Sushi Palace instead.

Excellent! We visit this location many times for birthdays and family dinners. The service is very good, staff is always pleasant, the food is perfectly prepared and is also a BYOB restaurant! There is even a real koi pond inside the restaurant with live goldfish. Your meal begins with a soup and salad that comes with a creamy tangy house dressing. Our family ordered the filet mignon hibachi, shrimp hibachi, scallops hibachi, chicken hibachi and salmon hibachi and we were very pleased with both the food flavor and large positions. Our chef did his spinning knives display and the onion volcano fire 🔥 with a test of alcohol strength when he squirts Sake in your mouth. If you celebrate a birthday here, the lights go down and a multicolor light comes on with birthday music while a piece of cake is brought to you. 🥳Tip: if you are celebrating a large party gathering of over 10 people, request the back corner room which gives privacy for your group and is great for party celebrations. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend visiting. 👍🏼

We eat here more than I’d care to because my kids like the hibachi. We’ve had entertaining experiences with the hibachi chefs, which is the big positive at Yutaka. The quality of the hibachi rice/noodles/vegetables is ok, but they use the same sauce in almost everything so each dish tastes similar. The sushi is terrible. It’s always disappointing regardless how many times I think it will be better. We actually just left most of our King Tuna roll because it was bland and didn’t taste fresh. The service is simply unfriendly, especially the hostess at the front. I’m not sure if she’s an owner (she’s always there) but there’s never a kind word or smile. She actually warned my kids not to play with the chopsticks when she handed them out. My wife and I always joke about how angry everyone looks there. Despite all of the better restaurants and sushi in Somerville, I’m sure we’ll be back with the kids.
