I haven't been to many events in Utah so we were pretty excited to go to this show based on the description and reviews.
Long story short: Fun enough for young kids if you have a family gathering and want to let a group of kids scream and jump around in the car for an hour or so (half of which is waiting), but a bit disappointing compared to the descriptions.
We really liked the music + light interaction feature; they have you tune your radio to a specific frequency and play a setlist of music which the lights are synchronized to. A couple sections had some neat displays, also.
Unfortunately, after pre-purchasing a ticket online we had to wait 30 minutes parked in a stall to get started (with no indication of wait time.) I'm not sure if the staff were disorganized or if there was something we're unaware of, but it looked like another stall was letting traffic behind us straight into the display without waits for our entire wait time. (We were directed to a specific stall with 10 cars in each stall.)
Above everything, the display just seemed lackluster. The lights are set up on flat ground in a square field of a couple acres (at a guess), and you just zig zag up and down the same field the entire time. You can see the entire display from the road, so honestly I think we should have just walked up and looked from the sidewalk. There were a couple of tunnels that were kind of neat, but you can see the lanes of cars ahead of and behind you coming toward you with half of their headlights on so there's not much of a "magical illusion." Not trying to downplay the work of those who set it up, the displays there look nice enough for what they are, but being in an open field means you're just looking at simple wire frames with flashing lights; no real depth or major creativity.
For us the worst part was the other people and lack of rule enforcement in any form. Rules are clearly posted all over the entrance, along the route, and announced throughout the music list on the radio; turn your lights off, and don't stop in the display. At least half the cars have lights on, and probably 50% of our time in the display was parked behind the folks in front of us as numerous cars stop along the way, people jumping out of their vehicles to talk to friends in other cars or goof around. I guess it's nice for those folks that they're having a good time, but for us it felt like rush-hour traffic, staring at headlights and brake lights and wondering what the hold-up was. Especially since we got through more than half the music set during our wait, so we were watching a repeat of the same songs / show for most of our...

By now, you've surely heard the tales of those who brave the line, only to emerge with tales of flickering lights and backseat battles. Consider this your official "Do Not Enter" sign for the 2025 season. Take those hard-earned dollars and invest in a hot chocolate bar at home, a cozy movie night, or literally anything else. You'll thank me later. And if, against all advice, you find yourself inching forward in that line, just know... we're all thinking of you. May your car battery hold strong, and may your children find inner peace. ๐ซก
Edit 2024: You are not alone. ๐ซ Many have now come to the realization that there are 50+ things in the valley better than sitting in your car with your children in pure chaos while Christmas in Color profits from your misfortune. Alas, there are greener pastures ahead. I'm 2 years sober from this nightmare and can say there is true holiday joy to be found all around us, just not here at this location. ๐ฅด
Edit 2023: Just your yearly reminder to plan something other than this with your kids. Go to a holiday movie, go out to a festive dinner, get tickets to a play. You will regret paying money to sit in a parking lot waiting to see 20 minutes of lights trapped in your car with children. Lol. May peace be with you if you try this during any sort of busy day/time. Like this review if you are reading this while in line to see the lights. ๐ ๐ ๐
Original review: Does waiting in line for 2 hours sound fun to you? Does absolute confusion and chaos interest you? Would you like to schedule a "reservation" just to be corraled with hundreds of other cars?
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you may actually like this place. Otherwise, I'd recommend steering clear. Please, people, drive the opposite direction as...
ย ย ย Read moreUsed to be better. Weโve done this drive through Christmas light experience for the last few years and always enjoyed it. Iโm not sure what went wrong this year. First, they are selling way too many tickets for each reservation slot. We had to wait an hour before making it to the drive through. I donโt want to wait an hour for a twenty minute experience. Second, the path was very poorly maintained. The road in to the experience was icy and slippery. Cars were sliding around turns and this is while they were only going 5 miles per hour. Then, while driving through the attraction, the trail was muddy and full of potholes. Our poor little mini van was bouncing up and down, jostling all our kids sitting on our laps, trying to watch the displays. I canโt even imagine how the poor families sitting in the back of their pickup trucks werenโt bounced right out. Lastly, I donโt know what they were thinking with their song choice this year. Usually they play several great Christmas songs as you drive through the display. This year, I donโt know if they were trying to save money by not purchasing the rights to play songs, but it almost sounded like they just played through the 20 second samples on iTunes of like, 50 different songs. It was really disappointing to not get to hear a whole songโor at least the chorus! The price of this display has been going up every year. If the quality of the experience continues to go down, we certainly wonโt be willing to pay the price...
