I’ve been seeing so many ads for Mi Ranchito’s lately on social media. I’ve been wanting to try it for a while, so we decided to go this past weekend. I was so disappointed in this restaurant! They advertise to have these large margaritas. I’m not sure where they are on the menu because I didn’t notice anything labeled differently. I ordered an Azul margarita and it was so small compared to other Mexican restaurants. Definitely not what is showed on their social media. It tasted fine, but I would probably pass on another margarita there. I ordered cheese enchiladas with green sauce. There was so much cheese on these enchiladas! The plate was so greasy when it got to the table, way overboard on this cheese. The rice & beans were the only thing decent on this plate after I scraped so much of the cheese on the side. I think the rice might have been made with a chicken broth, maybe I’m wrong. But it tasted a little different than rice I’ve had at other Mexican restaurants. My boyfriend ordered the beef and cheese burrito, smothered in red enchilada sauce. The enchilada sauce tasted pretty good. However his beef burrito was actually pork, not beef. He also asked for 1 Taco Al pastor taco, just a la carte. They actually gave him a carne asada taco. His whole meal was wrong, but what he did have, he didn’t love so we didn’t bother to let the staff know about this mistake with his whole order. He said his burrito tasted very mushy. We ended up not getting any to go boxes even though most of our food was left on our plates. Staff was okay. Everything seemed pretty clean, the bathroom seemed a little rough for a new build, which I’m pretty sure this is. I’m shocked at their high reviews online. I would pass on this...
Read moreI am very disappointed. We have been patronizing Mi Ranchito in South Jordan for over 4 years. We thought we'd found a very good nearby Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, the last few times we've ordered in the last couple of months, the quality has dropped considerably. Specifically, I've ordered the "Hugo's Burrito" many, many times. The last two times, I've received something more akin to a shredded pork soup with a flour tortilla laid across the top. The burrito has not been rolled, a very liquid with a very random scattering of cheese and just a tortilla laid on top. I don't know if they've employed a new cook or if they've changed the recipe, but it has changed drastically and not for the better. The complete lack of caring shows in their preparation of the plates as well, evident they are just throwing some items on the plate without consideration for portions or consistency. To that point, my wife and I both had beans and cheese with the meals we ordered. I had maybe a tablespoon of beans and a full cup of rice. My wife had probably a cup of beans, a cup of rice and a cup of jalapenos.
I guess one cannot fight "progress", but must find an alternate local Mexican restaurant. I guess I can only thank Mi Ranchito for4 good years, but I don't see us revisiting further.
--- Responding to Mi Ranchito: Unfortunately, because the last 3 issues we experienced were take out and the issues were not identified until we returned home and opened our food, I was unable to alert your staff immediately. Having called and expressed my concerns after the 2nd time, I was told I would have had to identify the issues before leaving...
Read moreSome friends of mine wanted to meet here for dinner. I ordered the Chicken Tostada. It was a very large portion. The problem was it was so soupy from the lettuce they didn’t drain and the boiled chicken they didn’t drain. It had no flavor. I told the waiter and showed him all the soupy liquid at the bottom of the plate. It had disintegrated the tostada to cornmeal! He seemed to care less and said “oh it’s cuz of the lettuce!” He didn’t offer to replace it or ask me if they could make me something else. I handed him my food and said I can’t eat this. In the meantime, before I arrived, my friends had ordered queso and chips. The waiter asked who’s bill the queso and chips should go on and my friends said can you split it. He said he could. Ten, fifteen minutes go by and he comes over and informs me that the restaurant will only charge me 50% of my soupy dinner. He hands me my bill and he put the entire queso charge on my bill! I wasn’t there when they had queso and didn’t have any. I don’t get where my friends say “split the charge for queso” and I end up with the whole enchilada, so to speak. Terrible service. Terrible food and they don’t really care if you like it. I guess they have enough people who tolerate bad, expensive food that they keep business as usual. I will never...
