Elite AV — Local services in Southlake

Edit: Recently Elite AV followed up with me regarding my review. I spoke with Kelley, who recently took over customer service and the communication was significantly improved. She listened to my concerns and Elite AV came out and fixed a couple of small issues that I described in my review below. The two men that came to the house were very professional and did a great job. All in all, I respect a company that listens to feedback and is willing to improve.

Orginal: My wife and I recently constructed a new home and Elite AV was the only contractor that left us incredibly disappointed. Our AV project included installing six security cameras, an alarm system, 2 outdoor patio speakers, 4 living room speakers, an amplifier, 3 wall-mounted boxes for frame TVs, and hardwired internet throughout the house. The addition of speakers was their suggestion, as I lacked expertise in that area. Trusting their recommendation, I accepted their quote of nearly $11,000, despite finding it pricey.

However, communication proved to be a major issue from the outset. Basic questions about the quote, such as the video storage capacity of the alarm system, were met with delays and evasiveness.

Regarding the data closet and internet setup, they refused to terminate any internet wires, claiming it wasn't part of their standard prewire. They proposed charging almost $1,500 for a router and two extenders, which I found exorbitant given the simplicity of the task. For context, a good set of decos is around $150 on Amazon and installation is just plugging them into the ethernet cables and power. They’re taking advantage of folks with limited technology knowledge. After prolonged negotiation, they reluctantly agreed to terminate the wires for an additional $75. This predatory pricing strategy, coupled with their sluggish responses, left me frustrated.

Their pricing tactics extended to other services, such as TV mounting. While they quoted over $2,000 to mount 8 TVs, I found a more reasonable option elsewhere, paying only $500 for the same service.

The most infuriating aspect was their mishandling of the speaker installation. Despite recommending 6 speakers, they failed to inquire about my preferences or needs. Consequently, they only installed an amplifier for the living room speakers, leaving the outdoor speakers not hooked up to anything. Furthermore, the recommended amplifier was incompatible with frame TVs, rendering my living room TV incompatible with the speakers. Despite expressing my concerns, I received no response.

Given the hefty price tag, I expected superior customer service. However, their lack of responsiveness and post-payment support fell short. You can see below that I haven’t received a response from my last message over a month ago. Their failure to ask pertinent questions for accurate recommendations, coupled with their inflated pricing, reflects poorly on their integrity.

As a business owner, you typically have two viable options: offering a premium service at a premium price or providing a more affordable, basic service. However, Elite AV fails to meet either of these standards.

Highly recommended!!! We contacted a number of very highly recommended home theater companies to design and quote a complete home theater in our dedicated media room. Justin and Elite AV nailed it on everything - design, customer service, quality and pricing.

Our project included purchase and installation of all components, in addition to tearing down an existing bar and building a riser for additional seating. I gave Justin a budget, and he designed a system that far exceeded anything else we could have received from the other companies I talked to (he even offered areas for me to save money while increasing quality). The best part was, his price was his price. Even when we had delays due to some of the other contractors that I employed outside of this build (i.e. carpet), Justin adjusted his schedule without question.

Justin and his team took the time to figure out what would fit what our family was looking for. He didn’t just suggest what was best for the company, but really took the time to ask my wife, my kids, and myself what we were looking for in a system. Then they delivered!
