My house is 15 years old and much of the equipment in my Media Room was “state of the art” when it was built…. As a result, there was a labyrinth of wires and connections in my Media Room (some of the technology no longer used today) that provided several services to my house and outdoor living areas. I began having problems with the sound in my Media room that seemed relatively minor to me but was preventing my family from using it. I preferred to leave most of the old technology which centrally controlled the house as is and just fix the sound in the media room. In addition, I wanted to add some technology related to a new piece of equipment.
After some failed attempts to correctly address the issue with both utility service companies and other Sound and Media Room competitors around the Metroplex, I was growing frustrated. While the people who came out to my house were all nice, no one could appropriately isolate the issue and provide a reasonable solution for an existing system that, with one exception, was working very well.
After what felt like an exhaustive search to me, I happened upon Modern Media and owner, operator, Todd Forgan, right in my own backyard. From my initial meeting with Todd, I knew that I had found the right person and company to solve my issues. Todd immediately scheduled a meeting to come out to my house and review the issues. Throughout my experience, both he and his experienced team were prompt, professional, personable and happy to address my family’s needs.
We put together a plan to address my issues and (with no sales pressure from Todd) spoke about and implemented some cost effective options to keep and use my existing system and, at the same time, make some minor adjustments to take advantage of newer technology and enhance our overall experience. Once we agreed upon the plan, his team showed up exactly when they said they would and worked to repair and deliver everything that we had discussed. Everyone at Modern Media (Todd, Nick and Mike) were a pleasure to work with from beginning to end.
In a nutshell, I’m thrilled with the service that Todd and his team provided. They took the time to understand our issues, worked with us to put together a plan, delivered on that plan in a timely and professional manner and provided us with contact numbers so they could immediately respond to any issues or confusion that we may have had with operating any of our equipment. This is a rare occasion in today’s world where a business does exactly what it promises, when it promises to do it and stands behind the work that it does. From the beginning of our first telephone contact, Todd Forgan, the owner, treated my project like it was just as important as the much more expensive projects he had done. After discussing the job over the phone, I decided to use his services and was scheduled within the week. Todd and his colleague Mike, arrived promptly and began work by taking a quick survey of the job to be done. Throughout, Mike walked me through the process of the new installation from relocating the electrical and cable outlets. I wanted to make sure the new installatoin was clean and that all the wires and connections were neatly hidden within the walls. The only hiccup came when they removed the 55 inch from its original location to replace it with the new 60 inch TV. After the new TV was mounted and they powered it on to go through the set-up, they discovered it was defective. I immediately contacted the dealer and made plans to have a new set delivered. In the meantime, while I was working the details with the dealer, Todd and Mike went to work installing the 55 inch. By the time I was done talking to the dealer, they were about finished with the installation and were ready for me to come and check placement of the TV set.
In spite of the disappointment of having received a defective product, I was extremely pleased wit the work they were able to do and the care they took with my home. Todd, without hesitation offered to return at no charge when the new TV arrived so they could again through the process of mounting it for me. True to his word, he and Mike came out the same day the new set arrived, after they had finished a job they started earlier that day. If that wasn't enough, Todd noticed that my wife and I had been listening to the radio through our built-in sound system and asked where it was connected. He explained that he thought only one channel was operating from the pair of speakers in the living room ceiling. His curiosity got the best of him and he proceeded to troubleshoot the speaker connections. In the end, he had spent an additional 15 to 20 minutes checking and correcting some loose connections in a the closet where the speaker connections were made.    Read moreMy journey of designing and planning for a home theater began by reading all that I could find regarding home theaters. Of course I spent a great amount of time pondering the design, the type of components, budget, etc. The many questions only added to my research. Fortunately, I had six months to plan while my new home was built. Once I was comfortable with having a decent idea on what I wanted, I began interviewing installers. I interviewed six other installers and none of them came close to Todd’s genuine approach of truly wanting to know his clients’ wishes.
Todd walked me through each step of home theater design and even volunteered to examine and ensure proper wiring was installed when my builder framed the home theater room. Upon examination, Todd accurately assessed that the wiring installed by my builder did not meet the specifications for the Goldenear speakers that I had chosen. On a Sunday afternoon, Todd rewired the room and made sure that the speaker outlets were in the proper locations. No other installer identified and/or discussed how builders rarely use suitable speaker wire and how it is best to locate the speakers in the proper locations before the drywall was installed.
Todd’s exceptional service does not stop with him applying his excellent knowledge to your project. For example, I required the absolute latest Sony projector for my home theater. Unfortunately, Sony experienced supply issues due to the popularity of the new model. Todd recognized and appreciated my desire for this particular projector, so he volunteered for me to use a projector he had until the new Sony projector came in. Todd immediately installed the demo projector so that my family can enjoy the home theater. Due to Sony’s significant challenges to supply the new projectors to the market, this wait lasted three months. At no time did Todd indicate three months was too long for me to use his demo projector. I challenge anyone to find an installer that provides this level of support.
