Read moreI opened an account at the South Hill location of muv.Fitness I went home and went over my finances again and realized I could not afford it As well as I was going to be moving and it was not going to work out.. I went back the next day and They said. I needed to wait for a charge that was pending and then I could cancel it. Otherwise it would cost more money. So I waited and they charged me I should also preference this by saying that I have never actually even used the facility. I was only in there one time to sign up for the account. And then I never used the facility. And then they charged me again the next month and then I called them and tried to get it canceled again by this time. I had already moved. They said that it would be canceled and I went about my life. It was not canceled. They kept charging my account. I called again. It was supposed to be canceled again. They continued to charge my account for over 8 months. They charged my account. I called back today. Talk to a man named James who is the store manager. James was not helpful, nor was he professional At 1. In the conversation he says he will cancel the membership over the phone. My response was. Why didn't they do that the first time and then At more than one point he said oh I will cancel the account for you and then decided to change his mind and say oh, I'm not gonna help you after all because you're being rude. To which I responded. Of course, I'm not being very nice. You're stealing from me. And then he hung up on me Finally, I ended up speaking to a district manager who refused to identify himself. I Explained the situation to him. There was evidence that I tried to close the account more than once. He became very unprofessional outright called me a liar. He said That because it hadn't happened before I must be a liar. He said oh well, I will cancel the account. Then, once I Got upset about him, calling me a liar. And mentioned that I was going to leave a bad review. After he canceled my account, He proceeded to threaten that. he would reactivate my account. If I left a bad review. That's literally the textbook definition of Extortion. Here's the RCW for you If you need to see the actual law.
RCW 9A.56.130: Extortion in the second degree
It's a class c felony.
A business telling somebody that if they leave a negative review, they will hurt them financially. That's a crime. So I guess we'll see if he does that or not. But it doesn't really matter. Because just the Threat of it is a crime and those conversations are recorded.
So supposedly my account is canceled and they refunded me just The charge that just posted, but I can eat S#it for the last 8 months that they charged me.
I will never set foot in another muv. Fitness as long as I live. I will make certain that everybody. I know hears about this story. I will repost this review again and again so that people keep seeing it. The level of unprofessionality and outright criminality...
Read moreThe only redeeming qualities of this gym is its location and the front desk staff. I come here nearly every day and I always receive a friendly hello but that's where the welcoming feeling ends. Short ceilings, terrible lighting, cramped space, basically nothing like the other Müv locations. The roof leaks every time it rains or snows with buckets decorating the entire gym floor. Repairs take months if they ever get addressed. Holes in the floor, cracked mirrors, exposed outlets, ceiling tiles water logged and ready to fall. How they haven't been sued for a tripping hazard or air quality is truly baffling. Ceiling tiles + water= mold! The basketball court consists of plastic tiles with dead spots galore. The owners just don't seem to care about the quality of the gym so long as people keep coming. They put their signs on the sidewalks right outside the parking lot making it impossible to pull out safely without inching into oncoming traffic just to make sure they keep getting new members. I have reported issues numerous times with little change. They know there aren't many choices on the hill so why change? If you really care about your members and their health, stop making excuses and find a building that is comparable in quality to your other facilities (Shopko building perhaps?) Stop treating the South Hill like the Cinderella step-child of your organization!
UPDATE (April 3, 2019): After another frustrating day of walking around puddles on the floor due to water leaking from opening holes in the ceiling, I witnessed a personal trainer confront a member who was working out with her daughter and tell her that she can't do "personal training." This is the same mother/daughter that I have seen workout together nearly every morning for the last year. With the daughter being north of forty, don't you think you should be applauding the two for keeping each other healthy and active rather than harassing them? This for me was the last straw. It is very obvious to me that this gym only cares about getting members and getting those members to do personal training with their employees. Retention and customer satisfaction just isn't a priority for them. Their management was all too eager to let me cancel my membership rather than address the numerous issues with their facility. I'm sure they were tired of me complaining and having to pull out the "we are working on it" response. Now they can go back to their ostrich approach to running their...
