Revel 77 Coffee Roasting — Restaurant in Washington

I travel a lot for work and hate working in the office, so I'm a frequent coffee shop patron (and I try visit as many as possible so I don't wear out my welcome). Out of all the various shops in various cities I've spent time at, I've got to say, Revel 77 is one of the best for my purposes and all around! If I could plan the perfect coffee shop for my needs, this is exactly how it would be! The coffee is great, the atmosphere is amazing, there are outlets galore, the seating is comfortable and great for working on your laptop, there is space to have notes or documents out, it doesn't get loud and distracting (in fact, you can even take work calls here and not have the other person asking where you are and what is that noise they hear), there is ample parking (some even shaded) and, most importantly, the people are awesome! They are friendly, they remember you, and they don't make you feel bad for hanging around working - in fact, they are positive about it! Worst service ever! I came in because we received a coupon in the mail since we live down the block. We hadn’t noticed this coffee place so we thought it was a good way to try it out & support locals businesses. A soon as the gentleman (tall, beard) looked at the coupon he didn’t greet me at all & quickly started doing other things & running to the back. He continued to ignore me & I told him I would pay for the coffee if that meant he would acknowledge me. He said he was running behind & would be a little longer. He kept ignoring me until I decided I’ve had an enough & threw away the coupon & walked out. I’ll never go to this business again & do not recommend it.

Reply to owner, you are not being truthful on what actually happened , I get your are trying to safe face but I was not acknowledged or greeted until I started talking to the barista. That was when he started telling me he was falling behind but never did he apologize. I didn’t except an apology but since you stated that he apologized. Revel 77 tries hard and misses the mark. Their retail location poorly executes in most aspects and falls short of the kind of excellence a coffee connoisseur expects from a speciality roaster. Most importantly, their staff fails to expertly bring out the flavors and aromas of their coffee and the drinks and foods come out mediocre at best. My coffee tasted like hot water with flavoring.

It's a shame because objectively they have admirable roasts and I have enjoyed some of their offerings at home but the retail space lacks. It's not just busy but chaotic. The space is poorly designed and utilized and creates a messy traffic jam and noisy atmosphere. The end of the bar in their food prep space was a disaster and the food takes too long to produce just to end up with bland drinks.

Maybe the menu needs rethinking and they should focus on improving their coffee and cleaning up the whole space. The customer experience suffers so much but I'd hate to see good...
