Great Northern Liquidation — Local services in Springfield

THIS IS NOT A "THRIFT STORE! (full review below the caveat)

These folks do not rely on donated items, they purchase everything they resell. They have to view it, drive to pick it up, unload it at their warehouse, evaluate it, clean it, sometimes repair it or recondition it, ensure it is in proper working order, pay to get rid of any items that are not up to their standards, research it to find a fair price, then haul it to the storefront for display and marketing. Do not expect a "Goodwill-style" of store here.

The range of items available in this unique store changes on a daily, sometimes hourly basis! From thrifty bargains to designer clothing, from tag sale treasures to high-end collectibles...everything is exhaustively researched and fairly priced, whether it be a kitchen-counter knick-knack or a top-shelf exotic antique. I have found record albums and garden boots for myself, movie posters and books for my husband, shelving units, Halloween decor, and floor lamps. Rick and Lisa treat this business as a fixture of the community, serving up a breathtaking array of treasures for every taste and space. I definitely recommend here and looking around, every time I go in I find something that’s a great deal. They post frequently on their Facebook about items they get in and most of their prices seem really fair. I’ve never gone in there and seen something broken or dirty, their presentation is really nice for selling used furniture. The new location is a huge upgrade, I think there’s really something for everyone. One negative would be that some of their more collectible items (dishes, vintage toys, decor pieces) can be kind of pricey but they do sales each week of certain color tags, so I’d look out for those! As a lifetime “thrifter/bargain shopper” this store offers it all! You could furnish your whole house at a fraction of the cost of buying new and you will find one-of-a-kind treasures you won’t find anywhere else! I never leave empty handed! The store is laid out beautifully and very easy to shop! Staff is super helpful and friendly. They always play the best music and there’s so many new items each time I visit! The clothing area is my favorite! Lots of nice brand names at low cost! Overall, it is a great experience and would highly recommend everyone to come...
