So much to say about the Copper Fox in Springfield. Let me start by saying that I highly recommend making reservations. The Copper Fox has a nice rustic bistro feel to it. The tables, seats and staff are all dressed clean and sharp. Seating is neither crowded nor minimal yet perfect for the space available. This being said, between window seats, dining area and bar stools there is about room for an estimated 50-75 patrons. Reservations recommended. My reservation experience was top-notch as I had made my obligatory "mistake" in order to call back and the corrections we're made politely and with no hassle. Upon my visit the staff was professional, polite and approachable. There was nothing about them that made it seem like they were ever too busy even as they were busing around from table to table. When I first walked in I had to make sure there was handicap access to the table (yet another detail I left out to test the staff) and my needs were quickly met . We were about 20 minutes early but were seated nonetheless. At this point I have to give mention to our waitstaff Brianna who neither rushed or ignored us. She treated our early arrival as if we were ready to go. By the time the rest of our party had arrived Brianna had developed good raport with us and we felt comfortable with her as our server. She was quick to establish the same raport with the rest of my guests while being sure to maintain her professional demeanor. As it came time to order the first thing we noticed was the small yet detailed menu. Brianna had all the questions covered. As fast as we came at her she answered them. Bravo! We ordered a great selection of appetizers from their Dirty Potatoes and Crab Cakes to the Soup of the Day. All were delicious, hand crafted with excellence and served in a timely manner. The main course was where things got a little bumpy. Two steaks were ordered at two different heats, both cooked perfectly. 2 different fish plates, also done to excellence. The pork tacos are definitely worth going back for and I will get to the artichoke and shitake Alfredo in a minute. What was so disappointing was how something as simple as a hamburger can be cooked wrong? It was cooked unevenly as one side was cooked more thoroughly than the other. How was it able to leave the kitchen like that? Now, do not get me wrong. It was still cooked. Still edible and still delicious, just not done properly, and this is what brought down the entire experience. Now, on to the Shitake and Artichoke Alfredo. This is quite possibly the creamiest and must sultry (yes I said sultry) Alfredo sauce I have ever had the pleasure of consuming. I literally felt each individual flavor releasing it's aroma in my mouth simultaneously to give me the combined flavor of perfection. Yes it was awesome. Some other considerations when you visit the Copper Fox: Their bathroom was not properly signed, it's the door on the right. Where we were sitting gave us a horrible glare of sunlight at that specific time of day due to the recent being no shades or curtains. The bartender did not seem very confident behind the bar as many patrons seemed to have long waits as she muddled the drinks. This being said, the drinks we ordered were beautiful and delicious. Final Thoughts: The Copper Fox has been open for roughly a month now and is still going through it's beta phase. It has a lot of kinks to work out but is doing a wonderful job right out of the gate. Though the menu is a little on the pricey side for neighboring towns the quality and quantity of food is WELL worth the price of admission. A nice dinner for 2 can look at dropping around $100 on the high side for a full 3 course meal and drink (appetizer, main course and dessert). I will be returning and I do give The Copper Fox the Dragon Fire Seal of...
Read moreI was very disappointed in my evening at The Copper Fox. I made reservations on a Wednesday for the following Friday night. 6:00 pm not available so I booked a 5:00 pm. table. The restaurant opens at 5 pm and when I walked in at 5:02, there was only one table being used ( a 4/top being used by two people in the main room of the restaurant). I was shown to a small 24â bistro table in the front window (fishbowl). hardly enough room for a dinner for two. I asked for a table in the main restaurant and was shown to a 4 top directly next to the hostess station which was annoying during our dinner. I was dining with a dear friend who had recently gone through a death in her family and we were looking forward to a quiet dinner to talk. John, our server, was awesome and the best thing about our experience. The food was okay, there was nothing special about the piece of baked cod fish for $37. We were having our after dinner coffees at 7:00 when a server (not our waiter) came over to our table with our bill. We were not asked if we needed anything else or was the meal to our liking. Not more than 5 minutes later, John, our waiter, came to our table with our bill. He looked a bit surprised and embarrassed that we had already been presented our bill. He asked if everything was okay and he thanked us for our courtesy. I excused myself from the table to use the facilities, and while away from the table, the hostess approached our table and asked my friend if we could leave soon as people were waiting for our table. We had finished our coffees, we paid our bill and I left a 30% tip because of Johnâs service. I have never been asked to leave a restaurant because I had stayed at a table for longer than 2 hours. Nowhere did I read there was a two hour limit nor was I told of a two hour limit. My reservation was at 5 , we sat at our table at 5:10 and it was 7:10 when we were asked to âhurry upâ. After dropping $160 for dinner plus 30% tip, I thought the hostess was rude and unprofessional. The hostess knew we had paid our bill and she should have noticed that our coffees were finished. I lived in New York City for 20 years and I had never felt so insulted at any restaurant there , no matter its cost. Except for John our server, the dinner left my guest and I very disappointed. I will...
Read moreWe were excited to try this place for the first time. Unaware that we needed reservations, we walked in and were greeted with "Name?" I told the hostess we didn't have reservations and weren't aware we needed them. She said they just had a cancellation and sat us in the far corner, next to the bar. A decent table save for the gallery light blaring in from the store next door. We asked for a high chair-- the one that was brought had a broken buckle and the other was in use. When the other table was done with the seat, I had to go back and get the highchair myself-- no one offered, despite having a rambunctious 11 month old strapped to my chest. Drink order was placed and drinks delivered, it took over 20 minutes for our waitress to come back for our food order. Mind you, business was just picking up, we were one of the first tables in house. We watched as two tables had their orders taken before us, their appetizers delivered before our order was even in. Seated at around 5:30, our food did not come out until nearly 6:45. The $28 salmon was undercooked and the $18 burger was super rare, despite being asked to be cooked to medium. Had we not had a prior commitment across town for 7pm, we would have sent our meals back. A slower paced meal is fine for a couple out on the town, but grandma, baby and mom, an hour for food is a lot, especially as we watched tables seated 10 and 15 minutes later than us being served first. Upon delivery of the food, we asked for Tiramisu to go and the check. Our server did not check back on us to find out how our food was, the Tiramisu was thrown haphazardly into a to go box, and the hostess was the one who delivered the final check after our card was run. Not to mention, no bold wording outlined that the lady fingers in the dessert we soaked in rum-- definitely should have been more of a pronounced notice on the menu. For a $100 meal, we were disappointed by the pace, attention and overall outcome of the meal. Was it because we hadn't made a reservation? Was it because we had a baby in tow? We aren't sure. But we hope if we give it another chance, the staff and kitchen will match the otherwise...
