Sundown One — Local services in Springfield

Wanted to replace the stock radio in a 2002 Tahoe I have. This vehicle is my go to device for most things, so I spend some time seated behind the wheel and wanted decent sounding audio that had been lacking for since I bought her.

Talked to Kyle about what I wanted to do and how I wanted things to sound. He came up with a list of components and parts, mostly right off the top of his head and produced a quote for me.

I held onto the quote for about a month and finally decided to proceed and I am GLAD that I did. Kyle is a frigg'n genius when it comes to installing and knowing his craft. This guy is a rare individual that can take customer requirements and turn them into reality and do it right the first time.

Getting into my ride now, is like being 16 again. It's as if Dad bought me an older ride that has a few cosmetic issues, but he hooked me up with a SWEET radio and all I want to do is cruise around town with the windows down with the tunes cranked. To give you some perspective, I'm 47, so anything that can drop me into the "Way-Back" machine is like gold.

So add that to the list of pluses about Sundown One: Kyle is an equipment and installation genius. He does stuff correct the first time. Having something as simple as some clear and great sounding music propelled me back in time and made me feel 30 younger.

Considered driving to this shop, from Champaign, as they're one of the few Pro-ject dealers in the area and I prefer supporting local businesses. Before making the 3+ hour roundtrip drive, I called to check stock availability and spoke with "Drew" who was clearly having a bad day. His demeanor on the phone was incredibly poor and he didn't appear interested in putting me on hold and confirming the inventory they had on the floor. When he returned, his phone demeanor, again, seemed agitated when confirming their available floor model and the expected delivery date, if I were to order new through them. At this point, I confronted him about his demeanor and his responses were, "I'm sorry you feel that way ..." and "whatever," before hanging up.

This is entirely anecdotal and, perhaps, he was just having a bad day. Either way, I did not make the trip and this shop did not receive my business.

This store surprised me with the various sizes and number of wide screen televisions set up and turned on for viewing. The smallest screen was a 27" and the largest screen for viewing was an 85". They carry several brands but we are partial to Samsung. Their prices are very competitive to other stores like Best Buy, etc. The store did not have any customers. We were the only patrons in it. I noted that many of the t.v.'s were sold out and on back order. The salesman was helpful but not overly ambitious. We also purchased a t.v. mount of high quality for the 42" Samsung purchased. I had to use the ladies room while there and noted a dirty ring around the toilet bowl which did not impress me, however, the rest of the store seemed clean.
