My experience with Patrick’s was unpleasant. In the end, I spent $810 for literally nothing more than three weeks of sleepless nights, anxiety, and frustration. I was willing to pay that to be finished dealing with this company. I’ve never written a negative review before, so this will be detailed and thorough because I don’t take pleasure in it. Living in Austin, Tx, I decided to go with Patrick’s for an engagement ring after being pressured into it by a close relative who lives in St. Francisville, and who was looking to establish a relationship with a local jeweler for herself. In hindsight, I should have listened to my gut which told me not to do it. It started off fine, with several options being shown to me through photos and Facetime with my relative in the store. A very nice salesperson took the lead on showing me a few rings and we found one that I liked. This is where things unknowingly took a turn. I was interested in a three-stone diamond ring with what I was told was princess cut diamonds for all three stones. I was wanting princess cut so that was perfect. After researching diamonds online for several months prior, I knew what I wanted and what questions to ask. The salesperson informed me that the weight of the three stones were two .5ct diamonds on the sides and a 1ct diamond in the middle. The quality was acceptable (H color/SI clarity) and the diamond sizes were perfect. After debating for a couple days, I decided to move forward with the purchase. Three major instances followed which highlight their lack of attention to detail: 1. I sent multiple texts and screenshots to the salesperson of my work address which is where I wanted the ring delivered. When the salesperson sent me a screenshot of the shipping label, sure enough, it had my home address on it. I had to take time off work to go the post office and intercept the package before it went out for delivery. 2. Upon receiving the ring, the size of the diamonds was obviously misrepresented. The diamonds were actually .375ct on the side stones and .75ct for the center stone. 3. The included appraisal form signed by the owner stated Radiant diamonds and Princess diamonds interchangeably throughout the document. Come to find out they were all three Radiant diamonds. I spoke to the owner about my displeasure and he asked for an opportunity to make it right, which I granted. I paid $175 to ship the ring back to him and he ordered a new .91ct diamond to put in the center. I was satisfied with that. He said he would have to charge me $2,375 for the new stone. I told him I would not pay more than $1,800. He stated he would do $1,800 because his goal was to get my and my relative’s business now and in the future. I paid the $1,800 and waited for the ring to be sent back. When it arrived, I opened it thinking I was finally getting what I wanted (I resigned myself to Radiant instead of Princess diamonds). Initially, the ring looked great when I opened the box. However, when closing the box I saw the ring at an angle and a large black triangle formed across the entire top. I inspected it from all different angles and sure enough the ring would go black no matter which direction I viewed it from other than straight on (pictures included in this review). The fact that the owner felt it was acceptable to send me a product to propose with in which I would have to concentrate on the angle of the ring during the proposal really rubbed me the wrong way. I sent it back and requested a refund. They refunded me the purchase price minus 3% credit card fees. This brought my total cost to $810 which includes the 3% plus two UPS return shipments of $175 each. I wish I could say I’m upset about the $810 but I’m not. I don’t have the finances to waste that kind of money, but that’s how relieved I was to be done dealing with this company. I’m sure there are many satisfied customers who have had very positive and uplifting experiences working with John and his team. Unfortunately, my experience was the exact opposite

Unfortunately, when asked to appraise some antique jewelry, a lovely, hand-painted antique piece was broken instead. There was no personal apology or explanation from John Patrick, although he was on the premises and knew about the problem. Furthermore, the owner and PAST patron of Patrick's wrote a letter of complaint to which no response was given. She will go to another jeweler for repairs, appraisal, and purchase...

Despite doing my research and getting lots of referrals, I was apprehensive to entrust my antique heirloom to a jeweler I'd never met before. Patrick's fortified 70 prongs & the shank, fixed a previous jeweler's bad repair, and rhodium plated the piece. I'm extremely pleased with the result and highly recommend them for any repairs. Their attention to detail is far superior to anything I've had done in...
