Simply put, I absolutely enjoyed my visit at The Cheshire Grin Cat Cafe. The building was beautiful, the owners were friendly, their cats were adorable, and the coffee and treats were wonderful. My group of friends and I traveled two hours to visit this brand new cafe and were delightfully surprised to find another friendly, caring cat cafe.
In perspective, I have visited a few other cat cafes in the United States, South Korea, and Japan. I previous worked at a cat cafe myself and understand the work that goes into a cat cafe, from maintaining the facility, to baking/barista-ing, to caring for the kitties, and ensuring all your guests are well cared for - it's not an easy task, but the owners and volunteers to an AMAZING job. The Cheshire Grin Cat Cafe reminded me greatly of one of my favorite cafes in Seoul, both with open concepts and making great use of the space they had to offer an invigorating environment for both cats and customers. I found it awe-inspiring was how they worked with multiple rescues to open up areas in multiple shelters, where most cafes only pull only from one, this opens up room in multiple rescues/shelters to rescue more cats while the Cheshire Grin focuses on fostering the others.
If you're looking for a hidden gem in the St. Louis area (near the Arch) involving cats, I highly recommend the Cheshire Grin Cat Cafe. You can support a great cause, meet some great cats, and enjoy the lovely staff/volunteers at this non-profit cat cafe. Whether you're looking to find a new feline friend to join your household or need a relaxing getaway, I am certain The Cheshire Grin can help you out - their feline friends are the...
Read moreCheshire Grin is the only cat cafe in the St. Louis area that is also a non-profit. It's located on Cherokee, so there's a lot of stuff to do in the area before grabbing a lemonade or coffee and resting up with some beautiful, personable feline friends. The cafe is not only enormous but affordable compared to others. 2 floors, $5. Most food and beverages are around $5. Very cute merch up front too, some thrifted, some designed by the owner who is herself an artist as well.
You can tell Paul and Kateri are passionate about their work, and it shows in the health of the cats and the work they put in to make the cafe clean and cozy. Paul and Kateri have been working in animal care, training, and rescues before opening up about 4 years ago, iirc. Their staff is also friendly, knowledgeable, and promptly care for the cats and the people, and know the cats by name, and many of the regulars by name and order, and which cats are their buddies.
This is a beautiful community project for the well-being of cats and the people who love them. Thank you so much for providing this much needed space...
Read moreThis place has exceeded all of my expectations. I first came here because my boyfriend had previously been and mentioned to me about a particular cat that caught his eye. She was a spicy kitty and had been there for a year. I went for my first time and the vibe of the place is very cozy and the workers seem very dedicated to taking care of their cats. There is a downstairs and upstairs for them to roam around and play and have lots of toys.
The coffee and pastries are delicious and the cat my boyfriend mentioned was there and trying to steal my muffin. We left with plans to adopt her after learning about her spicy nature but her bonding with us rather fast. Today she is home with us and the staff was very helpful with the process and gave us all the information and resources we needed to take our baby home.
If you ever want to adopt a cat from here, I 1000% recommend doing it. They are so well taken care of and the staff are...
