Teatopia is THE teashop everyone should make an effort to experience. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed and engaged by staff and the owner, Reginald. In all honesty, I had trouble choosing which tea I wanted (an excellent problem to have ;) such a fantastic selection.
I went for a hot Haiku Peach and was not disappointed. My daughter opted for a smoothie and tried Mango Cherry with almond milk. It was billed as life-changing, and it was! My daughter loved it, and the little I got served in a tasting cup made me reconsider my life choices and convert to smoothieism. In all seriousness, it was delicious! It was so good that my daughter polished it off in a few minutes and went to order another of Teatopia's genius smoothies, the Cherokee, a peanut butter banana concoction that was amazing! When they say all the smoothies are good, I believe them.
I ordered some loose-leaf tea to brew at home (Citrus Bliss and Duke of Africa). Reginald was very kind and added a little extra into each resealable packet in case of brewing errors. I love the care and attention given to adding directions to the packets. As well as the meaningful way Reginald tied our bag up so the contents wouldn't spill out.
Overall, such a truly remarkable experience. I am so happy to have found the peaceful haven Teatopia. Not only are the smoothies life-changing, but the calm and purposeful manner in which Reginald Quarles interacts with customers leaves no doubt that he is brewing better lives one leaf at a time. Thank you for the great experience and...
Read moreBad experience here today. I asked about all the green teas; the only way the cashier was able to describe it was "grassy." I asked for a list; the other worker there said everything was on the website. So I looked online, had trouble navigating, because you have to go into the ordering section of the site (there's no actual separate listing of teas). Website doesnt refresh well to go from one kind of tea to another, but instead, just shuts down and goes back to beginning. Also, site has no mention of the jade snail tea I ordered. When I mentioned it to the workers, I was told that they dont have printed lists (due to COVID) and they dont have anything on the walls about it, also the reason they dont serve food (that last bit didnt really make sense). To top it all off, the worker didnt brew any of the 3 teas long enough: 2 herbal and one green all looked and tasted the same, light green and watery. I paid $13 for 3 hot waters. Be wary of what you're buying: on average teas steep 3-5 min, sometimes longer.
May I suggest a few plastic sleeves for tea list selections or a board on the wall with a few adjectives for each one or a specific link of teas-only on the website. Especially if you're not serving food right now.
Not happy to give my money away for bad service...
Read moreWandered in somewhat at random after walking the wrong direction on Cherokee...but I remembered having perused their menus online, and I love giving money to Black-owned businesses. There was a sanitizer dispenser as I came in the door, a welcome feature when I'm coming in off the bus and don't want to spread whatever I may have picked up.
The owner greeted me kindly and helped me order within my dietary preferences. I had a delicious veggie wrap with a tea-infused cream cheese (I mean, YUM) and a tasty white pomegranate iced tea. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get the tea hot, so he gave me a little of each to try.
We chatted about the heat advisory, which just kept getting extended further and further, and COVID affecting businesses, and places on Cherokee. He offered me ice water and checked in multiple times to see if I was enjoying my food. I'd entered my email to get my receipt, and when I checked my email next, I saw I had an invitation to add my birthday for a free treat.
I'll definitely be going back. Great place for light summer food. There's a back room filled with fabulous art that would be a great place to visit...
