The staff here is great. Big helpful smiles. The breads, fresh and amazing. Sometimes the fruit has fruit flies, so ALWAYS wash your fruit no matter where you get it from. Watch an episode of âMONSTERS INSIDE MEâ. Youâll be washing your store bought fruit every time.
But the customers in here leave a lot to be desired. Some are just pigs. Iâve had men take cuts in front of me. Itâs like youâre not even there. The meat counter; well for one thing the butcher canât speak English. The second thing, everything there is covered with blood. The handles on the freezer doors, smeared with blood. The butchers apron loaded with blood. I just wonder if the health inspector has been by recently?
Lastly, never, NEVER buy the mixed olives, pickles, beets, baby corn etc., from the open salad bar thing in front of where the Iraqi bread is baked. On more then one occasion I have witnessed bare hands & fingers help themselves to the pickles, olives, and beets. I saw a man with a cigar in one hand (between fingers) shift the cigar over to the other hand and then his smoking bare hand goes in for a beet which he immediately gulps down (I saw him help himself over & over again while waiting to fill his bread bag)! Just yesterday I witnessed an older lady go in the olives for her free sample. I said rather loudlyâthatâs gross!â Then I asked her âWould you buy those olives if my bare hand took those olives?â She then waves her hand at me and says âI no speak English.â Well she understood something cause.she then put a few olives into a plastic container and walked around the ,store munching away.
So hereâs my review in a nutshell: their baked bread is excellent, Their employees are always smiling and seem happy, theyâre AWESOME! Their produce is win some, lose some with the freshness and fruit flies, Their relish/salad bar, STAY AWAY! Their butcher counter STAY AWAY. And their customers/clients, well you canât make a silk purse with a sows...
Read moreordered a mixed tray yesterday one of the items was completely spoiled and smelled very bad. I was so impressed in front of my guests. I called the store to let them know. Her response (OH I WILL TALK TO HIM AND SEE. Didnât even apologize or tried to make it up to me. Note: I ordered the tray on Sunday to be ready Monday at 3:00 pm therefore I want to change one of the items so I called around 10:00 am Monday asking them if I can cancel one item on the tray and add another one. She said I canât do that because they already started it so I was like WHAT my order not until 3:00 pm why would they start now she was like oh no just the round koba must be boiled now. So I was like yeah please donât let start my order now thatâs way too early and wonât even look fresh. Therefore now I believe that the whole tray was made earlier thatâs why the koba halab smelled and tasted sour . Other items were okay but at this point I donât trust it at all. I just donât understand why people treat others just like the way they want to be treated be honest and work extra harder to make your customers happy. Donât start customers order 6 hours before promising time just because you want to save money making your employees work part time only. Anyway never ever again that place is...
Read moreStaff and owner are very friendly and helpful. They don't act pretentious or have their noses in the air. This is the only place I purchase my homemade yogurt (liban) from. The thick layer of cream skin is so delicious and such a treat. But the best part about the yogurt here is that when they make it they slightly burn the pot of milk so it adds this incredible smokey flavor that just makes it absolutely perfect. You can't find this anywhere else. If you've never tried Iraqi yogurt before get it from here, you won't be...
