I received good care from Dr. Barry when she was here and I saw Dr. Rocken this year, who I also liked. Getting an appointment here can be difficult even as an established patient. There is an older woman at the front desk and she is very rude. There is usually a long wait time once you're there for your appointment and I don't think I've ever been seen on time.
Recently, I had an issue with a swollen lower eyelid. I called and spoke to a guy and I asked him if they could help or if I needed to go to urgent care. He first offered me an appointment for a different day, and I said, "No, I need today." Obviously if I'm asking about urgent care, I'm looking to be seen the same day. I only have one eye so I need to make sure it's taken care of. He was able to "squeeze [me] in" with another doctor that afternoon.
That appointment took almost an hour and a half. The doctor spent maybe 5 minutes with me max, and I had to ask questions to I frankly felt she should have answered before I asked. She said they would call in a prescription for me. I waited and hour and nothing was showing at the pharmacy. I called back and they told me the person who calls in prescriptions was doing it now that all patients were done for the day. I'm flabbergasted that only one person does this and they wait till the end of the day. Well, lol and behold, they didn't call it in. I called again 10 minutes before they closed and they already turned off their phones for the day.
Getting them on the phone is near impossible sometimes. I had to call over and over again to speak to someone to tell them YET AGAIN that they haven't called in my Rx. At this point, I'm feeling like I'm just another bill for them and not an actual patient. Mistakes happen, we are all human, but I called to inquire about my prescription and told it would be handled. I shouldn't have to spend all of this extra time following up, they should just do their jobs properly.
I'm still waiting for my Rx to be called and I won't be surprised if they forget yet again. This experience has left me very frustrated with their care and though I did like my visit with Dr. Rocken, I'm not sure if I will be returning later this year for my annual exam. Their location is convenient to my house but I need a place that actually values me as a person and provides me with the care I need, especially given my...
Read moreFirst, I want to say the Dr. Rocken is great, no issues with the level care she provided. The clinic itself is another matter though. I rate this clinic one star (I would rate it zero stars if I could) because they have an incompetent billing department there. Whoever is in charge of billing, accounts receivable etc. needs to be retrained or fired. I have decided to go to another eye clinic because the constant billing issues are now at a point that I can no longer tolerate. Every time I go to the clinic I pay my copay before I even get to see the doctor. Every time I go, I get the same old line “You have an outstanding balance, due to unpaid copays.” I show them the proof in receipts then the say “it’s all taken care of.” The next time I go, it happens again. To be clear they are not deducting the funds from my account, they run my credit card for the copay when I check into the clinic and I get a receipt, but there has been no real transaction occurring, then I get a bill, then I call to get it fixed, I give them my card number over the phone, I got a confirmation code that it’s paid and then I get another bill saying I have unpaid copays or I go into the clinic for my next appointment and they tell me there that I have unpaid copays. Sometimes several months worth of clinic visits and copays stack up and when I come to the clinic I have a giant bill waiting for me. What are they doing with my credit card, if every time I visit the clinic I hand over my card, I see them run it, I get a receipt, but nothing really happens, nothing gets paid! It’s a credibility issue, I can’t trust them, what other billing problems may be lurking there besides not knowing how to do basic things like settling a charge with a...
Read moreComing into a doctors office you would want your first interaction to leave a good impression. That has not happened here to with the older lady at the front desk. You are already going to be on edge waiting 3 hours you would at least think you could get a pleasant experience with the FD. One day she completely ignored me when checking in and she was doing nothing at all. A different day checking out the check out desk has a sign to check out in the front so I go and she scolds me that she doesn’t do check outs and then she mumbles under her breathe things about her coworker. A different day I called to schedule an appt and told her what insurance I had and she tells me they don’t accept my insurance. I told her that they do and that I’m already an established patient. She laughs and says that’s impossible. She’s always very rude. I try to explain to her that I’m PPO and that she is confused with a different insurance. She yells at mw and hangs up the phone while I’m speaking. I had to call again and I spoke with a gentleman that helped me get scheduled. Then the day of my appt she also gave mw a hassle about my insurance. She just chooses to be unhappy and difficult I would say this is a personal issue that she has. If you do not have patience maybe healthcare is not the right job for you since you are going to be interacting with...
