Falafelji — Restaurant in Lyons Township

We were looking for a Mediterranean restaurant that was close to home and by happenstance, we recently found this little hidden gem off of Harlem Avenue. I was very surprised that being such a small restaurant establishment it had so many wonderful dishes on their menu.

So far everything that we have tried was excellent. We have eaten the Falafel, Hummus, Grape Leaves, Kirby (best we've had eaten yet), and Chicken Shawarma Sandwich, and have purchased separate warm pita breads to go with the hummus.

We have yet to try all the other items on their menu, but those will be next on our list.

Just one thing to keep in mind since this restaurant is located in a small mall strip, parking can be difficult. So far, we haven't had any trouble finding parking, so just something to keep in mind in case you are in a hurry.

Also, if you are ordering to carry out, give yourself enough time as these guys are very busy from their online and eat in orders, so it does take time to get your order since everything is made fresh to order.

I gave this hidden gem five stars for their consistent food quality that is delicious and worth the wait when carrying out or eating...

Some of the best mediterranean food you can get in the whole Chicagoland aera!!! I do hvac and travel around quite a bit. Ive tried many different mediterranean places throughout my travels. NONE COMPARE TO FALAFELJI!!!! Their falafel is the most flavorful and fresh every time. Never once have i gotten an old taboulli salad or any other sort of salad, always extremely fresh and delicious. At other places you can tell when the salads arent fresh, it really is quite disappointing. Never have been let down on quality at falafelji. The meat is cooker fresh to order unless you get schwarma obviousily. Their sambal sauce (the red hot sauce with chili flakes) is better than any other place and i wonder if they make it themselves. Many other places use sambal olek which can be purchased at most stores. Falafelji either gets a better brand i cant find or makes their own. The grape leaves never disappoint, again always fresh. A Great Neighborhood spot for good Eastern Mediterranean Meals. A little pricey but we'll worth it! The Lentil Soup is healthy and quite tasty. Falafel is freshly made, every day. Meals are made fresh, so there might be a wait, but it's worthwhile. Diners may eat in or order to take out, under normal circumstances!!. Kebabs are quite tasty, Salads are large. A go to spot for Mediterranean food! Closed on New Year's Day, however for the last few days, they've had MANY customers, a sure sign that this is the IN Place to go for excellent Middle Eastern Meals in the near SW Suburbs! Meals & Pita Sandwiches are Sooo good, that, once in a while they might run out of a menu item before closing time.
