Stonewall Deer Processing — Local services in Stonewall

I picked up my deer from y’all a couple weeks ago and wasn’t going to say anything, but after thinking about it, thought I would like to know if it was me. I am pretty disappointed in the quality of my meat when I got it back. I have opened 2 packages of hamburger, and one package of pan sausage (which by the way is the best flavored sausage I’ve ever had), and one package of steaks so far. Have no problems with the ground meat, but the steaks and such was wet when is was frozen. I now have to open every pack, then scrape ice off and repackage them. On top of that, the package I already opened had grass, hair, and dirt in the meat. I will send pictures following the text so you can see what I’m talking about.

This was my text to the owner who’s response was that the hair and dirt on my meat was my problem because it’s the persons responsibility who field dresses it to make sure the meat is clean. Even though I paid extra to have the skin it since we were in a hurry to get back in the field. I was also told that since “they didn’t do the quality job I was expecting, I shouldn’t bring any more deer in to them”. Owner called me to discuss and was very unprofessional. Like mentioned above, I didn’t ask for anything, didn’t expect any refund or even apology. I just wanted the owner to know the product I was given as packaged food. He wouldn’t even admit that the cleanliness of the meat was his responsibility. This place is a joke...

These people are the best! The venison sausage is amazing, so much so that I got 100 lbs of it this year. The turn around is quick and they never over charge. I was shocked when they called me only a week after dropping off 2 deer for processing. The staff is friendly and accommodating. We’ve been to the “best around,” and they don’t compare.
